Fallout 3: The Pitt | Fallout 3

Fallout 3 (Walkthrough) with DLC's -> Fallout 3: The Pitt

Find the signal source

After leaving the shelter, we receive a new radio signal from an escaped slave named Werner. In the message, he talks about a terrible disease raging in The Pitt (formerly Pittsburgh) and how it is now a city of raiders and slaves, ruled by Ashur.

We head to the location of the radio signal and find Werner in a shootout with the raiders. After the fight, he will tell us who he is and where he came from and ask for help in freeing Pitt from slavery.

First, we will need to get some slave clothes from a nearby slave caravan. You can buy the slave for 200 caps or kill the slavers, take the key from their leader, Ramsey, and open the slave cage. Then, we take the clothes from a dead slave or steal them from a living one (minus karma).

Then, we enter the tunnel and, clicking on the handcar, we travel with Werner to Pittsburgh. Upon arrival, Werner starts killing everyone we encountered at the tunnel exit. We help him, but he doesn't follow us any further. He orders us to sneak into the Pitt and find his friend Medea there. He gives us a choice of a knife or a revolver, which we can smuggle past the guards.

We move on – before the bridge on the left, we take out the savage aggressors and carefully cross the bridge (the bridge is strewn with mines and traps). Near the end, there are dogs running around and a sniper prowling above the bridge – kill him from afar or carefully climb up the path to him on the right side of the bridge.

After the bridge, turn right and beyond it are the gates to the Pitt.

Put on your slave gear and go in it. The guard will confiscate all your belongings, and you can only retrieve them after winning the Arena, so you can simply dump all your junk in the mailbox near the truck in front of the gates. (Alternatively, you can kill the guards without dressing as a slave, or say you've come to join the raiders. In both cases, you'll be met by Clean and the thugs at the next gate, who will beat and rob you.) Go inside. Inside, behind the first car in front of the pit, Nola is standing; she can heal you if needed. Medea is standing in the alley to the right. Talk to her, and she asks you to come to her house to talk. Carefully follow her. Along the way, you might meet one of the slaves, Millie, who will instruct you to find Bill the Savage, who has gone to collect pig iron in the factory yard.

Medea will tell you about harmful working conditions in Pitt, about troggs, and the raider leader, Asura. Medea will assign you to work at the factory to avoid attracting the guards' attention and advises you to ask Marco for a weapon. After the conversation, a guard will come running and disperse you. We go to the Factory to Marco (from the entrance straight ahead to the pit and twice to the right into the room with computers) - he will give us a chainsaw.

Next, at the factory, go to Everett, who's standing in front of the warehouse (backtrack to the pit) and will lead us through the Abandoned Zone to the Factory Yard to collect steel ingots. We collect steel ingots in the yard and in the utility rooms (there are 100 in the game), killing troggs and salvaging anything else that's not in use. Bill the Savage's corpse is in the southwest corner of the yard on the stairs. Go to Everett, hand in the ingots, and receive the Handyman's Outfit and a note for the repeatable quest "Steel for the Factory." Return to Medea, turn in the quest about Bill along the way, and receive six stimulants from Millie. Medea says you'll have to fight in the Arena and win to get close to Ashur and steal his cure.

We exit into the courtyard, listen to Ashur's speech, and head to the Arena, located in the factory. The Scarecrow is standing at the entrance. Go down and talk to Phaedra to enter the Arena. Win three battles (don't forget to eat Rad-X and RadAway between battles, and equip the radiation-repellent armor and gas mask if you've found them, and loot the goodies from defeated opponents). After winning the battles, talk to the guard who invites us to an audience with Ashur. We take all your belongings, confiscated at the entrance, from the chest that appears. (After this, you'll be able to exit the Pitt gates.)

Free Labor

We go to the Upper City (one entrance is in the Lower City to the left of Medea's dwelling, the other is in the Factory just past where Marco assembles weapons) to the Paradise fortress to see Ashur.

If you go through the Lower City, you can stop by Friday's weapons shop on the way up and stock up on supplies.

We proceed through the Upper City to the Paradise skyscraper, enter, and take the elevator up. We go to the end of the corridor, wait for Ashur to speak with the head of security, and then speak with him.

We learn that Werner was Ashur's assistant and betrayed him, and slavery is a temporary, necessary measure for survival. After speaking with Ashur's wife, Sandra, in the next room, we learn that Ashur's daughter is the "cure."

You have two options now, although a slave revolt will start with either:

1. Don't touch the girl, go to Midea, and find out where Werner is. Go to the southwest corner of the factory yard where the steel ingots were collected and climb the stairs where Bill the Savage's body was found to Werner's hideout. You can either kill Werner or talk him into leaving voluntarily. Collect the goodies and return to Ashur. Ashur will thank you for giving you access to a press for making ammo from scrap metal.

Take the repeatable quest "Toys for Marie" from Sandra – bring her teddy bears for 30 caps.

2. The bad guy option: Take the child, defeat all the aggressors, and go to Midea. Find out where Werner is hiding and drag the child to him (southwest of the factory yard, up the stairs). Werner takes the girl and says we need to cut off the power to the upper city. To do this, go underground (the hatch in the northern part of the factory yard behind the train).

Proceed through the tunnels and, at the end, turn off the upper city's searchlights on the control panel. A rebellion will begin in the upper city. Next, go to the lower city to Midea's house, where Werner thanks us for everything.

From Medea, take the repeatable "Toys for Marie" quest - bring her teddy bears for 30 caps.

Steel for the Factory  (an additional repeatable quest).

Hand over the pigs to Everett and receive for every 10 pigs: General Worker's Outfit, Gas Mask, Steel Fists Knuckle Duster, Foreman's Metal Armor, Smelter Laser Rifle with Ammo, Bomber Armor, Leather Jacket Armor, Tormentor Autosaw, Puncher Rifle (the quietest and most accurate rifle in the game), and Decorated Power Armor.

Toys for Marie (an additional repeatable quest)

- A quest given by either Sandra or Medea, depending on your chosen path. Carry teddy bears and receive 30 caps for each.
