Metro 2033: Walkthrough → Cave
Another man died to help me. How can I repay the dead for their heroic deeds?
We'll stand at another gate and wait for our mechanics to break it down. Beyond the gate is a pumping station and a wastewater reservoir. It's not a pleasant place. We put on our gas masks and proceed.
Next, we descend to the bottom of the reservoir. The first wave of mutants will attack us here, and we'll handle them without much trouble, but the second will be more challenging. The creatures will be swarming, and we need not only ourselves but also all of our teammates to survive. Without them, further progress is pointless. So we fight for ourselves and make sure none of our men are killed.
Having repelled both attacks, we move on and once again come up against a closed gate. We try to open it, but it'll jam halfway. Our task will be to explore the room. As soon as we crawl under the gate, it will collapse, cutting us off from the squad.
We need to find a way out of here and meet up with our own. Here in this room, we'll see another mutant, the likes of which we haven't encountered before. He'll be fast and challenging to kill, but we've taken down stronger ones before.
We go straight ahead and first find a corridor that will lead us to a hatch, which in turn will lead us out of the cave. Once through, we'll find a door. It'll be locked, but it'll open easily if we pull the switch next to it. We'll continue a little further and meet up with our own.
There'll be one less fighter; Stepan died. And now there are only four of us left. But we must continue on, no matter what. Especially since transport will arrive soon – an automated train. Just what we need. We'll take it to D-6.
