If you're not strong enough in a particular area, you can search for books that increase your skills by three or four points. There are four books for each of the thirteen skills scattered throughout the Mojave, giving a total of 12 points for each skill, and 16 with the "Understanding" trait.

All books (and magazines) should be found not in the open steppe, but in locations, be it a cave, shelter, hut, or entire complex. They are usually found in prominent places—tables, beds, or bookshelves. To make your search easier, here are some tips:

  7. Groknar Barbarian ( Melee Weapons ): Cannibal Johnson's Cave; Secret Cave Storage; Cottonwoodcove; Jacobstown.
  8. "The District of Columbia Journal of Therapy" ( Medicine ): Novak: HELIOS One: The Followers' Secret Quarters; a crater in the Mesquite Mountains.
  9. Science for All ( Science ): Nipton Town Hall; Repconn Headquarters: Camp Forlorn Hope; Brewery.
  10. Modern Locks ( Lockdown ): Wolfhorn Ranch; Prospectors' Den; Bitter Springs Recreation Area; Silver Peak Mine.
  11. "Electronics Repair" ( Repair ): Sloane: Wind Farm; Nellis Air Force Base; Brotherhood of Steel Bunker.
  12. "Wasteland Survival Guide" ( Survival ): Marauder's Platform; Mesquite Mountains Camp: Lone Wolf Radio Station; Matthew's Animal Farm.
  13. "Chinese Special Forces Field Manual" ( Stealth ): Goodsprings; Vault 3: Sharecropper Farms; Camp Searchlight.
