Tranquility Lane (Vault 112) | Fallout 3

Tranquility Lane (Vault 112)

Vault 112 is located very far from River City, and there's a fair amount of walking to do. If you haven't yet explored the world and discovered locations closer to the vault, then warp to Megaton and begin your journey from there. You could encounter anything. Evergreen Mills is absolutely teeming with raiders, so I advise extreme caution there.

Reaching Casey's garage, we go inside and descend into the camouflaged Vault 112.

Looking around, we realize there are no people here, as if everyone has died out; the vault itself is controlled by robots. Reaching the main hall, we observe an interesting scene: all the vault's inhabitants seem to be asleep in special capsules, and there's no way to wake them. Father is also in one of them. We have no choice but to climb into one of the free ones and launch the program.

We emerge in a small, black-and-white pre-war neighborhood, with typical, sterile, plasticine inhabitants and a similar life. We're about 12 years old, with a child's watch instead of a Pip-Boy, and no weapons. It's not hard to guess that this is all a computer program used by the vault overseer. And the poor residents live here, unaware of what's really going on.

In the middle of the neighborhood is a playground with a little girl and a dog. We go there and talk to Betsy (that's the girl's name). It turns out that the one our father went to find, Dr. Braun, has holed up inside this little creature.

We only learn about this a little later, but first we're given a choice: to go for the good side or the bad. Either way, all the inhabitants of this matrix will die, both in the program itself and in the real world. They cannot be saved.

The Order of Things in the Abandoned House

Since we're playing as a kind person, I'll describe a more humane way to put them out of their misery first. We go to the abandoned house (it's the only one in the neighborhood), and in the hall we find the following items: a jug, a gnome, a bottle, a radio, and a brick. All of them can be used with the default "E" key. Press the items in the following order: radio, jug, gnome, jug, brick, gnome, bottle . In the panel that opens, select "Chinese Invasion" and go outside to watch the Chinese machine gunners exterminate all the civilians. Then, approach Betsy and talk to her.

But there's another, more inhumane option. We approach the girl and talk to her (them), asking about her (their) father. She (he) invites us to play a game. We agree and begin.

The first task is to make Timmy cry. We find the boy and talk to him. With the help of eloquence, you can convince him that his parents are getting divorced because of him, or, if eloquence is lacking, the matter can be settled with fists. A tearful Timmy runs away, and we, with our karma depleted, return to Betty. This is where her true colors are revealed. After completing each task, Dr. Bron promises to answer one question of your choice. Choose a question from the list and proceed to the next task.

Now we need to destroy the Rockwells' marriage without causing them physical harm. The surest and easiest way is to go to Janet and tell her that her husband is cheating on her. If you're clever with words, she'll believe you, and the task will be completed.

The second method is more drawn-out. We go to the Simpson house and find the lace lingerie on the second floor. Take it to the Rockwells' basement and place it on Roger's desk. Then call his wife and show her the evidence. The task is complete, and we can return to Betsy.

After asking one more question, we head off to complete the next assignment. Now we need to kill Mabel Henderson, and kill her in such a way that it looks like an accident. Here are the methods:

- loosen the chain on the chandelier in her house, and it falls directly on her head

- delete the security parameters in the robot, so it will shoot at random and hit our victim.

- We loosen the pilot light on the gas stove, then ask Mabel to bake some pies.

- We place the roller skate on the steps and watch a woman fall to her death.

Having fulfilled our bloody mission, we return to the girl. One last task remains. We need to take a knife and a mask from the doghouse near the abandoned house and kill all the inhabitants of Tranquility Lane. This won't be difficult, as the people don't defend themselves, and the only difficulty will be catching up with them. However, our karma will be completely ruined after this.

After dealing with the inhabitants, we go to the girl and talk to her. After the dialogue, we enter the door that appears and speak with her awakened father. From him, we learn that Project Purity can still be revived, and to do so, we need to return to River City. Optionally, we can ask him about our mother and why he abandoned us, after which we set off. And after that, to  the Jefferson Memorial .
