The Temple of Unity and the Republic of Dave
A small community of escaped slaves northwest of Canterbury . Their leader, Hamilton Hamlin, dreams of creating a stronghold against the Raiders to save other unfortunates. This is the location of the head of the Abraham Lincoln statue during the "Head of State" quest. A stone block from the monument is also found here, bearing the only remaining words of its original inscription: "Temple of... Unity."
Trophies: Antebellum Book in Caleb's room (Theft), "Tales of a Junktown Trader" in an abandoned Raider outpost on the highway southwest of the Temple. Before the "Head of State" quest, the outpost is uninhabited. "Grognak the Barbarian" and the Antebellum Book are also there.
After completing this quest, the books respawn. Also, the "People's Army Special Forces Training Manual" is in an abandoned truck on the highway near Wheaton Arsenal.
Republic of Dave
The Republic of Dave is a sovereign state in the far NE corner of the Capital Wasteland, ruled by Dave and his two wives (formerly "Tom's Kingdom"). Over the course of two hundred years, this small, inhabited enclave saw a succession of kings until Dave, Tom's son, deposed his father and declared a republic free of tyranny. At the local school, children are told that "when Dave was little, he never cried and his bottom always smelled good" (see "When Lenin Was Little...").
The most important moment in the life of the Republic of Dave is the election, although the results are clearly rigged – Dave remains the permanent President of his state unless he convinces his fellow citizens otherwise (in which case he will flee the farm and likely die in Old Olney). Rosie can be tricked into revealing the combination to the safe – 1138 (a nod to George Lucas's film THX-1138). Location for the "Election" and "Shoot Them All in the Head" quests.
Loot: "Perception" figurine (in the Museum), Quantum Cola, two pre-war books, a Chinese submachine gun, and an officer's sword (all of which must be stolen).
