Reilly's Rangers Headquarters | Fallout 3

Reilly's Rangers Headquarters

Located in Seward Square in the southeastern Federal District, the headquarters is housed in a partially destroyed building and is protected by a terminal and a security camera. However, when rescuing the Rangers in Riley's mission, simply interacting with the terminal is enough to gain entry. You can also take any items from the building without losing karma. There's also a bunk and lockers here. If you turn left at the entrance and walk straight ahead, you'll find a bedroom with a mattress on the right side suitable for sleeping, as well as a locker on the opposite wall suitable for storage.

The location can be accessed via the Anacostia and Museum subway stations. When exiting the last station (regardless of which entrance you use—from the Historical or Polytechnic Museums), you need to descend from the mezzanine to the platform on the side where there's a partition at the left entrance to the tunnel and a lone Raider is sitting. Enter this tunnel and, maneuvering between the cars, proceed to the rubble. There, on the left side, there's an entrance to a technical "appendix" with a broken door, through which you can enter the Anacostia station. Take out five Raiders at the station, most of whom are holed up on the mezzanine, and turn left from the mezzanine from the Museum-Anacostia tunnel exit.

Go through the Protectron room, exit into the corridor (there might be another Raider there!), turn left, then left again into another subway vestibule, then immediately right. This is the exit from Seward Square Station. The subway exit is covered by a picket of mutants, at least one of whom is armed with a grenade launcher. It's recommended to enter stealth mode, climb the steps to the exit, appearing over the parapet for a few seconds, and then immediately retreat back, ready to fire in VATS mode. The mutants will quickly run to hug you; if you're lucky, the one with the grenade launcher will get ahead of the others.

Having dealt with this unexpected joy, we exit into the square and, turning right, move carefully, hugging the walls of the buildings. We pass an abandoned truck containing the body of a Wastelander, a booby trap, and some ammunition, and turn onto a street lined with townhouses on the left (a crazed preacher is also holed up there, whose screams will overtake the hero almost immediately). On the right, along which we're sneaking, stretches the facade of a large office building. At some point, a passageway into an inner courtyard, marked with the Ranger emblem, is revealed in this facade.

The courtyard with the monument is the desired point. To the left of the monument is a ruined building with a door in the background. Enter the code given to us by Reilly into the terminal, and voila, we're surrounded by the rescued Rangers. Warning! To receive payment for all previously unlocked locations from Reilly, you must speak with her once, receiving the coveted Ranger armor as a reward, accept the assignment to map the Capital Wasteland and the navigation module, exit the dialogue, and immediately speak again.

A computer terminal is installed in one of the rooms of the Ranger bunker. Examining its contents reveals that the Rangers were given the mapping assignment by a mysterious "Mr. Smith."
