Player's partners

Companions are always helpful during challenging adventures in the Wasteland, but some players feel more comfortable completing quests alone. Here are the pros and cons of playing with a companion, as well as detailed information about the main companions:

Pluses

1. They don't die!

2. Can carry a lot of items if you reach their weight limit.

3. Can provide fire support.

4. Can use their default weapon without using ammo.

5. Can equip a wide variety of other weapons. (You must also provide them with ammo.)

6. Can wear armor and clothing.

7. Can wear Power Armor without using Fusion Cores.

8. Can romance you if you do enough things the companion likes and have a high enough Charisma to flirt when the time is right.

9. Can hack terminals and pick locks you normally can't. (Nick Valentine and Kate)

Minuses

1. Will unintentionally expose you more often, especially while stealthed.

2. Trigger traps and bombs that are otherwise easily avoided and/or disabled.

3. If teammates are equipped with weapons other than their default, they will consume ammunition.

4. Lines and dialogue become repetitive after a while.
