Stalker: Call of Pripyat → Quests → Strange Phenomenon
A strange glow has been detected on the dredger, and Dyagterev must go there and check it out. It turns out the glow is the ship's "modified steering wheel." He should bring it to Boroda... Upon exiting, Dyagterev is met by the stalker Vobla, who tearfully asks for the artifact, ostensibly citing noble intentions.
There are several options: you can give him the artifact, and he'll run off to sell it to Boroda instead. And he will, characteristically! Or you can refuse and continue on your way. However, you won't get far—there's an ambush. Vobla asks for the artifact again, but this time "under duress."
You can agree, and everything will be as if they gave it to you right away, or you can refuse, and then Dyagterev will be shot point-blank... Your chances of survival are slim. Unless you manage to escape after they hit you in the helmet with a rifle butt and then... well... well, just kill you.
Therefore, the best option is to refuse Vobla, shoot him, and then shoot his buddies who come running. After receiving the artifact, Boroda will fork out 3,000 rubles for it.
