Fallout: New Vegas Walkthrough -> Old World Blues: Weapons and Equipment
Weapons
- The X-2 Antenna is apparently one of the many radar interdiction antennas seen around Big Mountain. It amplifies brain waves and converts them into electrical current, causing additional damage to robots and characters in power armor. The X-2 Broadcast Network is in the dish above.
- Sound Emitter - after receiving it from the Think Tank, the Courier will need to upgrade it. This upgrade will allow the sound emitter to destroy force barriers. Blind Diode Jefferson will later be able to reprogram the emitter by downloading audio samples. There are five in total: Revelation, Opera Singer, Tarantula, RoboScorpion, and Gabriel's Bark. They provide varying bonuses to critical damage. Think Tank and Smart Home. X-8 Research Center. Higgs Village. Higgs Village (a different holodisk). Entrance to the Forbidden Zone dome.
- Saturnite Knuckle - on the left side you can see the number "D-25A," and on the button on the same side is the symbol for Saturnite alloys and the inscription "Saturnite." Easiest to find on Lobotomite corpses . The Superheated Saturnite Knuckle is a reinforced knuckle that also deals fire damage. Can be obtained from the Toaster after he heats up the regular Saturnite Knuckle.
- The LAER is a unique chimera of an energy weapon: it has a laser rifle stock, a plasma rifle magazine, and some parts clearly taken from a pulse pistol and a rechargeable rifle. X-8, Northern Tunnel, X-7a, X-13 . There's also an improved version—Elijah's Improved LAER. Signal Hill and Little Yangtze .
- Scientist's Glove - Gloves made of a dense latex-like material, apparently previously used to protect hands from hazardous chemicals, to avoid contact with contaminated tissue during experiments, etc. Varieties:
- Corrosive Gloves - Z-43 and on the body of the Venus Flytrap .
- Dr. Klein's Gloves - Higgs Village, Building No. 101. Dr.
- Mobius's Gloves - Forbidden Zone, on one of the tables in the rooms .
- Sterilizing Gloves - Behind the barrier in Y-17 and on the body of the unique robot-robobrain Super-Ego, which is located east of Higgs Village .
- Proton Axe - The Proton Axe resembles a futuristic military axe, with a blade formed by an extremely sharp force field. Found on Lobotomite corpses . Variants:
- Inverse Throwing Proton Axe - X-17, Cuckoo's Nest , and at the Strange Blower, Number 27, and Number 34. Inverse
- Proton Axe - Cuckoo's Nest, X-13 .
- Throwing Proton Axe - Magneto-Hydraulic Complex, Z-38, Cuckoo's Nest, X-8, Little Yangtze, Saturnite Alloy Lab .
- The K9000 Cyberdog Rifle is a machine gun with the intelligence of a dog. It has a futuristic design, most notably the brain-filled canine mounted under the barrel. Apparently, this is the source of this weapon's intelligence. This machine gun has three barrels, but instead of rotating like a minigun, they recoil back when firing, absorbing some of the recoil and chambering the rounds. It's available from Dr. Klein and in the X-12 . There's also a FIDO, which can be crafted at a workbench with the appropriate schematic .
Modifications and schemes
- K9000 mod.: Mentat Chow - Increases the rate of fire of the K-9000 cyberdog rifle by 40%. This modification can be purchased from the Smart Home Central Logic Module after downloading data from the "Main Computer Upgrade: K9000 mod. "Mentat Chow"" holodisk, which can be found in the X-13 Research Complex .
- K9000 mod.: Resla Transformer - Increases the damage of the K9000 cyberdog rifle by 2. This modification can be purchased from the Smart Home Central Logic Module after receiving the "Main Computer Upgrade: K9000 mod. "Resla Transformer" holotape, which can be found in the X-13 Research Complex
- LAER - Additional Recharge - Can be used to upgrade the LAER and Enhanced LAER. Restores one charge for four shots. The corresponding holodisk can be found in the western tunnel of Big Mountain . The holodisk must be installed on the Central Logic Module of the Smart Home , after which the modification can be purchased from it for caps.
- LAER - Prismatic Lens - can be used to upgrade the LAER and the Improved LAER. Increases damage by 30%. The corresponding holodisk can be found in the Signal Hill location . The holodisk must be installed on the Smart Home Central Logic Module , after which the modification can be purchased from it for caps.
- The schematic for the K9000 FIDO allows you to craft FIDO, an improved version of the K9000 cyberdog rifle, equipped with a more aggressive brain and firing larger-caliber rounds. The schematic is located in the X-8 Kennel in the research center. Access to this room is only possible with the "X-8 Kennel Key."
Armor
- Protective Suit and 3K Mask with NZ Goggles - The suit offers high poison resistance, and the helmet provides permanent night vision. Found in the Hazardous Materials Test Site . Incidentally, the protective suit is worn by the ghosts in the Villa in the Dead Money DLC, but it cannot be removed from them.
- Dr. Klein's Glasses - Dr. Klein's Glasses provide +5 to the Repair skill and +1 to Intelligence. Overall, they are inferior to the Mobius Glasses. In the Think Tank , to the left of the entrance is a table with a chemistry set. The glasses are on the table.
- Dr. Mobius's Glasses - Equipping them increases your Explosives skill by 10 and your Intelligence by 2 (twice as much as Klein's glasses). Brain Center , easternmost room on the second floor (locked with a medium lock).
- Scientist's Suit - Represents a pre-war scientist uniform, with a belt and collar. Apparently, this was the main clothing item in Big Mountain. Entrance to the Forbidden Zone dome , Z-38 Light Wave Research Center . Also other options:
- Dr. Mobius's outfit is a unique option. It differs from the standard mad scientist suit not only in its red color, but also in its significantly improved stats - increased charisma, intelligence, and science, as well as increased PU. Forbidden Zone dome , to the right of the stairs leading to the Courier's brain tank.
- Dr. Klein's outfit is another unique option. Compared to the standard version, it is better, but definitely inferior to Dr. Mobius's suit. The armor is located in Higgs Village , in house #101 on the second floor, in the bedroom.
- The mad scientist suit differs from the standard scientist suit in its increased PU and durability. Smart Home and X-17 Weather Station .
- Christine's Recon Armor (RA) - This unique recon armor, used by the Circle of Steel, once belonged to Christine Royce. This armor provides slightly more damage than standard recon armor and has a higher durability pool. This armor can be found in the Y-17 Medical Facility , near the inoperative Auto-Doc, in the middle of the room.
- Valence Planar Amplifier - The Valence Radius Accentuator adds +1 to stamina and constantly regenerates HP, approximately 12 HP per in-game hour. Can be used with unsealed helmets. A very useful and fragile item. Can be found in Z-38 Lightwave Research Center , Y-17 Medical Complex , and Signal Hill . It has a unique version: Atomic-Valence Triplanar Oscillator . Compared to the standard version, its damage and durability are increased. It also regenerates health at a rate of 24 HP per in-game hour. Z-14 DNA Splicing Lab - found on the bodies of Specimen 73 and X-7B Impact Zone - the desired item in the crate; it appears only after firing weapons from the "X-7A Artillery Test Launch" location.
- Stealth Armor Mark II - This suit features a life-support system and an onboard computer controlled by an AI with a pleasant female voice. The prototype technology is similar to the medical module of the Medical Power Armor prototype in Fallout 3. The life-support system monitors the wearer's condition, and the medical module automatically administers Med-X or stimulants when needed, and an antidote in case of poisoning. The onboard computer scans the surroundings and alerts its wearer to potential danger. It is quite talkative, offers inappropriate advice, makes off-handed comments, enjoys joking, and appears to suffer from mild paranoia. The suit's artificial intelligence can be improved at the X-13 research facility by updating its software, granting the wearer certain bonuses:
- Stealth +10 (firmware v1.0)
- Stealth +15 (firmware v1.1)
- Perception +1 (firmware v1.2)
- Agility +1 (firmware v1.3)
- Movement speed in stealth mode +20% (firmware v1.4)
- The suit's artificial intelligence warns with a voice about the appearance of enemies and their estimated danger level, about the end of a battle, and sometimes simply cracks jokes (for example: "Who in the world is the most inconspicuous, most invisible, and most transparent").
