Enemies:
- Turret Mk I x5
- Turret Mk III x3
- Laser Turret
- Kellogg
- Synth Leader
- Synth Trooper
- Synth Strider x6
- Synth x2
The fort's main entrance is boarded up, so we'll circle around to the north, destroying two turrets along the way. Climb the ramp and take out three more turrets. With the roof cleared, head just north of the main entrance and enter the garage. Search the dead settler and everything around, then head north to find a blue door, which is the only viable entrance to the fort.
Inside, you'll hear Synths lurking nearby, immediately lending credence to rumors of Institute abductions. The door is locked from the inside, so the stairs are your only option. Make your way very slowly up a couple of flights, then hack the terminal (novice) to activate Protectron. I've modified its mode to activate attacks against bots.
Toolbox on the north side of the floor contains:
- .50 Ammo x17
- Military-Grade Circuit Board
- Explosive Devices Box (Novice) (defuse the Tesla Arc):
- Fragmentation Grenade x2
Northeast of this room, through a hole in the wall, look for an office with computer alcoves:
- Lockpick Box
- Safe (Advanced):
- 10mm Ammo x28, Shotgun Shells x4
- Pre-War Cash x17
- Iguana Coins
Now sneak west into the room with the hole in the ceiling. There will be a Synth Leader and a Laser Turret in the room, and they will fire through the holes in the wall for maximum damage if you're not careful. It's best to head up the stairs and avoid fighting them this way.
The second turret is located to the northeast. Visit the kitchen in the northeast corner of this floor for a Guns & Bullets magazine. The nearby stairs lead up to the roof. On the south side of the upper floor, next to the bathroom, there's a door leading west with a Mk I turret just around the corner to the right. Go through the holes in the wall and you'll reach the control room with the guys from the paragraph above.
Beware of the frag mine on the floor in front of the computer terminal. Search the control room for:
- Focused Boosted Fiery Institute Rifle
DMG (36), Cell Ammo, RAT (66), RNG (104), ACC (83), WGT (6.4), VAL (144)
- Synth Chest Piece, Synth Left Leg, Synth Right Leg
- .50 Caliber x7, 10mm Ammo x9, Buckshot x7
- Frag Mine, Molotov Cocktail x2
You can hack the terminal (Advanced) to open the nearby security gate and stock up on:
- Fusion Core x4
- 5.56mm Ammo x30, .44 Ammo x12, .308 Ammo x16
- Stimpak, Rad-X
Use the nearby elevator to go down to the maintenance level. Straight ahead, the hallway contains a Mk III Turret and two Synths. A second Synth Strider may be lurking around the corner at the end. Then, go down the steps and disarm the Tesla Arc trap on the doorway. Search the small office for:
- Stimpak x2, Blood Pack, Iguana On A Stick
- .308 Ammo x9, 5mm Ammo x15
- Pulse Grenade x2
At the end of the steps is a Mk III Turret. Open the security door, then go through the double doors at the end. Fight the Synths at the end of the hall.
Turn right when you can and go through the open double doors. The bunk room on the left has a lot of unique clothing and some ammo. Hack the Expert terminal on the wall to disable the turrets. Behind the security door lock (novice) in the adjacent locker room are locked:
- Lockpick Set
- Stimpak, RadAway, Purified Water.
Return to the hall, go west, then turn left when you see stairs leading down. There will be two Synths at the end to the south. Grab the Fusion Core from the generator room, then from the workshop at the end of the hall:
- Fusion Core x4
- 5.56mm Ammo x14, .38 Ammo x7.
Return to the hall, continue west, go past the blue double doors and make your way through the right passage. Follow the pipes, grab the Nuka Cola Quantum, and obtain the "Fort Hagen Weapons Code" from the toolbox. Taking the code causes a high-level Synth Trooper to return to the hall and ambush you. Behind the blue double doors, find:
RadAway x3, Rad-X x2, Grape Mentats, Med-X, Psycho.
Now, go down the steps to the south and go through the open blue door. Continue down the hall, ignoring Kellogg's warnings, and at the end, you'll find a turret in the corner. It will be inactive if you previously hacked the Expert Terminal. Use the obtained "weapons code" on the computer terminal. In the small storage room on the other side, loot:
- Bobby Pin Box x2
- Rad-X x3, Stimpak x3
Unlock the security gate (novice):
- 10mm ammo x25, 5.56m ammo x13, Nuclear Battery x7
- Automatic Laser Rifle:
DMG (18), Cell ammo, RAT (90), RNG (203), ACC (72), WGT (5.8), VAL (89)
- Fat Man "Fat Man":
DMG (468), Mini Nuke ammo, RAT (1), RNG (117), ACC (63), WGT (30.7), VAL (512)
- Mini Nuke
Now continue north past the computer terminal and look in the living room on the left for a "US Covert Operations Manual" on the nightstand. In the bathroom:
- 5mm ammo x17
- Lockpicks x3
- Rad-Away, Stimpak
Unlocking the terminal (novice) in the living quarters simply activates/deactivates the turret outside. Exit to the hall, go to the end with the desk, and open two consecutive doors to the south to find a small room with several lockpicks and a couple of meds. Now follow the quest marker through the red door. Kellogg will open the next security door for you himself, as he now wants to "talk" and has ordered the remaining Synths to retreat.
He'll actually trap you after you enter his lair, so return to the door when it opens and prepare hellfire for him and his fellow Synths! One Synth will be legendary. Kellogg will use a Stealth Boy during the battle. It's best to use this device on yourself! Loot from the dead:
- .44 ammo x21
- Kellogg's Pistol (Legendary):
DMG (48), .44 caliber, RAT (6), RNG (119), ACC (70), WGT (4.3), VAL (449)
"Converts your action points into critical damage."
- Kellogg's clothes:
DMG Resist: {PHY (30), ENG (30)}, WGT (2.0), VAL (100)
- Stealth Boy
- Fragmentation Grenade
- Kellogg's terminal password
Search the deceased's quarters:
- .45 ammo x9,
- Stimpak x4, Blood Pack x2, Purified water, Addictol, Mentats
- Lockpick box, Military-Grade Circuit Board
- "RobCo Fun", includes a holotape with the game "Pip-Boy", next to Kellogg's terminal.
Use the terminal (I love the unique, round monitor) and review the access logs to see information about your son Sean, confirming he's currently in the Institute's custody. Use the terminal to open the security doors to the south and quickly exit outside. Talk to Nick Valentine to discuss your findings and see if he has any tips. Since he doesn't have any, return to Piper to discuss everything with her.
Head outside the fort and behold a massive Brotherhood of Steel airship hovering in the area, supported by twin-propeller ships. The speaker proclaims his peaceful intentions as they fly east, also giving the quest "Shadow of Steel."
Then, return to Diamond City and speak with Piper and Nick in Piper's newspaper office. Nick has the crazy idea of trying to extract memories from Kellogg's brain for clues. Since you removed the cybernetic parts from his body, they'll do the job perfectly. Choose whether to take Nick or Piper with you for the next chapter, and the quest "Reunion" comes to an end, beginning the next questline, "Dangerous Minds," in Goodneighbor .
