Hub

Hub

The largest city in the game. Here you can do everything from working as a caravan driver for three different companies to working for bandits. First, talk to the people in the houses in the first location – getting to know them will lower prices in the shops and will also give you a better feel for the city itself.

Go south to the second map, and at the very bottom you'll meet Iguana Bob. Threaten him with your knowledge of his dealings with Dr. Morbid from Junktown and force him to pay you tribute every five days. This will give you experience points, but your karma will decrease. Go south to another lower location. Talk to the man in metal armor and find out the local news.

At the very bottom of the location, there are water merchants who can extend the filter search period by 100 days. To do this, you need to negotiate with them about delivering water to the shelter. The maximum price is 2000, but you can negotiate for 500 or 1000 caps. Talk to Butch from Fargo, who will give you a quest to find the missing caravans. The clue is in Old Town, one of the Hub's outskirts, the entrance to which is to the right of Fargo. Go to Old Town and go downstairs where the crazy Woody is wandering.

Talk to Harold, the ghoul in the small house, who will tell you that Woody knows the location of a mysterious cave. Next, convince Woody to show you the cave. In the cave, you'll find a half-dead mutant and a Deathclaw, which you'll need to kill. Therefore, complete this quest after you've leveled up your character. After killing the Deathclaw and talking to the mutant, search its corpse. You'll learn who attacked Fargo's caravans. By the way, accepting this quest gives you a 15% discount at Beth's gun shop.

There's a thieves' guild in the old town. Few people know about it. In the third house from the entrance, there's a secret underground passage. Bypass all the traps and you'll reach Locksley, the Guild Master (and receive 900 experience points). Along the way, you'll need to open locked doors and avoid traps many times, so I recommend purchasing some lockpicks at the nearest store.

Locksley will task you with stealing a necklace from a merchant. Next, get the lockpicks from Jasmine and head to Lorenzo's establishment, FLC, which is located across from the Maltese Falcon bar. Talk to Lorenzo and ask him about Decker. Then, go to the Maltese Falcon and talk to Kane, who will take you to Decker.

Decker will task you with killing the merchant, the same one you need to steal the necklace from for Locksley. These two quests can be completed simultaneously. But the best part is, Decker will give you an advance of several hundred caps. Don't forget to pick it up from Kane when you leave. The merchant lives to the west. The entrance to the location is at the bottom left of the map. Go to the door and try to open it, but the guard will yell at you. Tell him you're late for a meeting with Mr. Hightower—he's the merchant.

Next, you'll be met by another guard, Leon, whom you'll also tell to speak with the owner. If you don't want to kill Hightower, simply sneak to the door on the right, pick the safe, and disarm the trap—that's it—the necklace is yours. Locksley doesn't need you to kill the merchant, but that's Dekker's quest. You can report Dekker to the local sheriff and help arrest him, or complete Dekker's second quest: kill Jane, who is with the cathedral children in the hospital, not far from the water merchants. This will take away your karma, but Dekker will compensate with money. You must rob or kill the merchant on the first try, otherwise he and his guards will flee the city forever.

Not far from Iguana Bob, in an old house to the north, there's a man standing. He'll complain about raiders killing his donkey and driving him out. If you agree to help him kill all the raiders, he'll give you a unique weapon in the game—a powerful homemade sawed-off shotgun. The raiders aren't hard to kill, especially with help. You can also find metal armor and a ton of gear in his house, but remember, you only get to his house once in the entire game. You can leave your items in the Hub—no one will take them. Raider corpses can also be used to loot a ton of weapons for yourself and for sale.

In the Old Town, you can buy a variety of chemicals in the very last house at the top of the area. Just press "barter" during a conversation. You can also search the arms dealer's house in the Old Town to find a machine gun.

You need to talk to the dealers and learn the location of the Necropolis . It's located four squares to the right and one square up on the world map.
