Fallout 1 -> Random encounters
Special encounters can occur anywhere on the map. Finding them requires a Luck of 8 or higher, or the Explorer perk. They can be found without this perk, but with a Luck of 9-10, finding them will take significantly less time.
Description of random encounters
Crashed UFO - The sign on the dome reads: "Property of Area 51. If found, please return to owners." Two alien bodies are lying near the saucer. One of them has an Alien Blaster (one of the best weapons in the game), and the other has a Fuzzy Painting of Elvis Presley. As stated in the film "Men in Black," Elvis didn't die; he simply flew home.
Lonely Footprint - Apparently, the creature that left this print is a close relative of Godzilla. It's very strange that there are no similar tracks in the area. In the middle of the footprint lies the corpse of a peasant, on whose body you can find Stealth Boy. This is really bad luck...
Overturned Nuka-Cola Truck - Well, there don't seem to be any casualties, but there's a little money in the crate next to the truck. Not much? It all depends on your character's Luck stat (Luck stat = 2 - 32 bottle caps, 3 - 105, 4 - 298, 5 - 730, 6 - 1645, 7 - 2976, 8 - 5709, 9 - 8443, 10 - 10765). If your character has the "Fortune Finder" skill, the amount found in the crate will double (so if your character's Luck stat is 10, you'll get 21,530 coins). Either way, it's a nice bonus.
The police box is a TARDIS, the instantaneous space-time travel machine from the science fiction film "Doctor Who." When you tire of admiring this eighth wonder of the world, feel free to approach the structure. Don't be surprised when it disappears, and a travel scanner appears in its place.
Car Dealership - Here you'll meet a rather strange, if not downright crazy, man – Bob. He sells cars, but that shouldn't be much of a relief. None of them will ever move again. After breaking down the shop doors, you'll find two guns: a Red Ryder BB Gun (in an iron chest) and a Red Ryder LE BB Gun (in an inconspicuous wooden crate in the upper corner of the back room). The latter always deals 25 damage, has a 100-bullet magazine, and requires only 4AP per shot!
Talking Brahmin - You've been fortunate enough to encounter a unique herd of wild, talking brahmin. Tim Cain is a big fan of MUDs. His favorite spell in these games was teleporting talking cows into a room full of enemies.
Patrick the Celt - Rogue Patrick the Celt. This isn't a special encounter, but a simple random encounter, but it's very important! If you have a heart-to-heart with Patrick and sing a patriotic song with him, you can increase your Charisma by one point. You can also talk to him about the locations of cities: Dark Sands, Junktown, The Hub, and Necropolis.
