Battle on the Railcars

Metro 2033: Walkthrough  → Battle on the Railcars

When I came to, I had no hope left. Prisoners in Nazi concentration camps were used as slaves—or targets.

Upon regaining consciousness, we overheard a dialogue between two Nazis who had captured us. The gist of this conversation was that we were going to die. A gun was pointed at us, and we were about to die, but suddenly some people appeared and saved us.

Half-conscious, we show Hunter's dog tag to our rescuers, and they decide to take us to Melnik. We're already close.

Coming to our senses, we follow our rescuers and soon reach a handcar topped with a machine gun. We'll be given a place of honor behind the machine gun. First, we need to leave the Nazi-controlled zone. We'll try to pretend we're our own and pass without a fight, but at the first checkpoint, we're discovered, and we immediately have work to do.

We're shooting at anything that moves; we're not our own here. They'll give chase in similar handcars with machine guns. Our task is to repel our pursuers. Along the way, we'll encounter a couple more checkpoints that we'll need to destroy. If we hit a wooden barrier, we can easily shoot it down, opening the way.

We'll also encounter a tank driving parallel to us on the other side of the road, constantly firing at us.

To remove it, we'll shoot the support and collapse the platform the tank is traveling on. After that, we'll travel a bit further and need to change vehicles. To do this, exit the trolley, go through the door marked "Station Boundary," and follow the corridor to find the next vehicle, which we'll continue on. The new trolley will no longer have a machine gun, but it's better fortified. We'll arrive at  the Depot .
