Any RPG has its share of unique weapons and equipment. But New Vegas has a plethora of them. Assembling a good collection of exclusive weapons will require a lot of time and a habit of picking the pockets of every story NPC, but tips will make the task easier.
Unarmed:
- Golden Gloves (Lucky 38 strip casino): in the VIP box, behind the bar.
- Knuckles "Retribution of the Fallen" (Cottonwood Cove): In Aurelius and Phoenix's office, in the desk.
- Brass Knuckles "Love and Hate" (Bonnie Springs): Carried by the leader of the Viper gang.
- "Nakhrap" Glove (Ruby Hill Mine): On the corpse of a Jackal gang member.
- Bottle Opener Cutting Glove (Camp McCarran): Carried by Little Brat.
- Paladin's Toaster Glove (Black Rock Cave): On a prospector's corpse.
IMPORTANT: Another book can be obtained as a reward from Ignacio for the quest "Sun Glare," if you channel Archimedes' energy across the entire region.
NOTE: The glove can only be obtained by killing its owner, but this is difficult to do at the airport in McCarran. Instead, complete the quests related to eliminating the Imps, and you'll find the Brat in Freeside, near the Mormon Fort, already dead on the train track.
Explosives:
- Annabelle Grenade Launcher (Mount Black): On Shadow's corpse.
- Grenade launcher (40 mm) "Boom-Boom" (AB Nellis solar panels): you can only get into the complex during the "Bad Ants" quest.
- Grenade Launcher (40mm) "Mercy" (Deadwind Cave): Guarded by the legendary Deathclaw.
- Holy Hand Grenade (5 pcs.) (Searchlight Camp): in the Broken Church, in the basement (3 pcs.); the remaining two can be found randomly on NCR soldiers (all grenades are available only with the "Wild Wasteland" trait).
Firearms:
- Vermint Rifle "Rat-Slayer" (Broke Cave): In the northeastern part of the cave, on a table.
- Long Rifle (Camp McCarran): Carried by Corporal Sterling of the 1st NCR Recon Battalion. IMPORTANT: If you kill Chief during the "Headhunter" quest, the entire Recon Battalion will be transferred to Camp Forlorn Hope, along with the corporal and this unique weapon.
- Marksman's All-American Carbine (Vault 34): In the armory, near the overturned table.
- Minigun CZ57 "Avenger" (Devil's Throat): In the back of a truck, in the center of the chasm.
- Sawed-off shotgun "Big Boom" (Gibson Junkyard): In the garage, at Gibson's mom's.
- Dinner Bell Hunting Shotgun (Thorn, New Vegas): Reward from Red Lucy for completing the Take It All quest.
- Maria Pistol (Strip Tops): Carried by Benny.
- Vance's submachine gun (Vince's stash - near the H&H Tools plant): in the safe (can be obtained with a lockpicking skill of 100 or with a speech skill of 55, convince the owners to part with it themselves).
- Lucky Revolver (Primm, Bison Steve Hotel): In a hard floor safe (75 lockpicking skill required).
- Revolver "The Same One" (Novak): sold in the souvenir shop "At the Dinosaur".
- Machine Gun (Camp McCarran): Awarded for hacking the warehouse computer and turning Contreras over to Lt. Boyd.
- Gobi Company Scout Sniper Rifle (Sniper Position - Near Cottonwood Cove): In a locker (requires 100 lockpicking skill to open).
- Mysterious Magnum (El Dorado Dry Lake): from Lone-sem Drifter (barter 50+ sample can be obtained peacefully).
- The exclusive "Child of Abilene" air rifle (Fields' cabin). On the shelf, near the wall.
NOTE: If you have the "Wild Wasteland" perk, the weapon will be located in Jimmy's Well. After leaving the hut, Rex (if he's your companion at this point) will howl, and in conversation with him, ask if anyone has fallen into the well. The weapon's location will then appear on your map.
Melee weapons:
- Two-handed hammer "Baby!" (Charleston Cave): in the lair of the night hunters.
- "Driver-Platform Nephi" (south of Vault 3): from the leader of the Imps, Driver Nephi.
- Pipe Piece "Simple Club" (Sealed Sewer): Looted from a Prospector's corpse. NOTE: This location can be accessed through the Central Sewer via the hatch near the entrance to Camp McCarran. The key to the sealed sewer is held by "Blind" Luke.
- Machete "Liberator" (Nelson): in the barracks, at the Dead Sea.
- Chance's Knife (on the hill, near the Tribe location): in Chance's grave.
- Figaro's Razor (Freeside): At the King's Look-Alike School, at Sergio's barber's.
- Cleaver "Chopper" (Wolf Horn Ranch): on the farm.
- Knock Knock Axe (Camp Searchlight): In the fire station, on the second floor.
Energy weapons:
- "The Euclidean Algorithm" (Freeside): the boy Max, running after the girl Stacy.
- Alien Blaster (north of Horowitz Farm): on Alien Captain (Wild Wasteland only).
- YCS/186 Gauss Rifle (north of Horowitz Farm): Carried by one of the mercenaries (unavailable with the Wild Wasteland perk)
- Laser Rifle Prototype AER14 (Vault 22): In the common areas. In the recreation area.
- Pew Pew Laser Pistol (Sunset Sarsaparilla Headquarters): Awarded as a reward for completing the quests "Legend of the Star" and "A Priceless Lesson" for collecting fifty star caps.
- Q-35 Plasma Rifle Modulator (Repconn HQ): On the first floor, behind the door that can be opened with a keycard, science (100), or hacking (100).
- Tesla-Biton Prototype (Vorticopter Crash Site): Guarded by golden geckos.
There's a way to obtain some unique weapons without killing their owners. To do this, first aggro the NPC (shoot with a weak weapon to avoid killing them), and when they're armed with the weapon you want, switch to VATS mode and land one successful shot to their right hand, causing them to drop their weapon. Now quickly hide your weapon behind your back—your hands are empty, and so are the NPCs, so there's no more reason to aggro. All that's left to do is pick up the unique weapon and head home.
