Paradise Falls
But getting into the camp itself won't be as easy as it might seem at first glance. A guy named Grumpy stops us at the entrance and tells us that just anyone isn't allowed inside. There are several ways to get in:
- If your speech skill is high (which is unlikely, otherwise you wouldn't be here), you can bribe your way in for 500 caps.
- Shoot all the slavers on the premises. This is an extremely difficult option, as there are many of them, and they aren't armed with wooden sticks, but with quite powerful weapons, including miniguns. We take the keys from Forty and unlock the slave cages, after which we meet the freed children outside the camp.
- Using bad karma, you can get in without any problems, without paying a single cap. You'll also be given the quest "Just Business," which requires you to trap slaves in special collars with detonators.
The last option is the longest. After completing at least part of the "Just Business" quest, you'll be easily let inside.
One way or another, we get inside, and now it's time to begin the actual liberation. We find the slave cages at the very end of the camp and speak with Sammy. He tells us that Squirrel has an escape plan, and we can help. Sammy calls Squirrel over, and we speak with him. A rather rude boy tells us how to disable the collars.
Squirrel will give us two options: either go to the bar and tinker with the switchboard there (possible if you have a good repair skill), or go to Undertaker's room and, once alone, hack into the terminal and update the network connections (requires the Science skill).
If you're weak in both, then the only options are to shoot all the inhabitants, or go to Undertaker and ransom the children for 2,000 caps.
After completing the task, return to Squirrel and report the situation. Now we need to distract Forty, who is guarding the slaves. He's alone around midnight, which is the perfect time. Use the "T" key to wait until nightfall and talk to the guard. If your speech skills are strong, convince Forty that he's underpaid, and he leaves to demand a raise. If not, head to Jones's house and, after bribing the girl there, ask her to distract the guard.
With a sense of accomplishment, we head back and report to Squirrel about our work. He informs us that he and Sammy are leaving, but a certain Penny is reluctant to escape due to her love for another slave, who's in solitary confinement. Love is blind, after all. Again, using speech, we can persuade the boys to leave their friend behind. The second option involves talking to Penny herself. We go and talk to her. Using speech, we can persuade her to leave her beloved behind. If that doesn't work, here's a plan: go and steal the key to the solitary confinement, either from Forty's pocket or from Undertaker's desk, then go and open the door.
After freeing the prisoner, we return to Penny and tell her everything's all set. She runs after Sammy and Squirrel. All that remains is for us to leave Paradise Falls, use the map to find the fugitives, and talk to them. After this, you can safely return to Lemplaid Cave and continue the main quest.
