Metro 2033: Walkthrough → The Chase
So I left my home station for the first time since childhood. I felt bad for not telling my stepfather the whole truth. I had no intention of returning home to Rizhskaya. But I couldn't let Hunter down.
Along the way, we learned from fellow travelers that the road to Polis would be long and not the easiest. Let's prepare ourselves for a long journey.
Problems will begin almost immediately. Near Alekseevskaya station, a tunnel collapsed, forcing us to take a detour through a notorious tunnel. After driving a short distance through the dark tunnel, everyone will begin hallucinating, some will lose consciousness, others will utter incomprehensible gibberish. Shadows will appear all around.
And soon, we ourselves will pass out and find ourselves in a gray world. There, we'll see a humanoid creature with long arms. This is the very threat to humanity—the Black Ones. A moment later, we regain consciousness and see that everyone else is unconscious. We'll wake up at least one and start getting out of here quickly. Especially since a pack of creatures will rush in pursuit:
While our partner drives, our job is to keep the creatures at bay. We'll begin a merciless barrage. There will be a lot of them, and our weapons are a bit weak against them. It's a good thing our partner is giving us his shotgun. We'll put it to use immediately.
When the creatures drag one of our fellow travelers away, the last one will wake up, and we'll be holding the line together. But not for long. When the trolley lurches over a hill, we'll fall out and find ourselves alone in a dark tunnel.
We need to save ourselves. We're catching up with our own, shooting down those who try to catch up with us. We'll dispatch a few more mutants and reach our own. Reinforcements with flamethrowers are already waiting here. The freaks don't stand a chance. After fighting off the attack, we'll catch our breath and go have a drink to celebrate our good fortune.
