Repconn Headquarters

Fallout: New Vegas Walkthrough -> Repconn Headquarters

Next, I recommend stopping by REPCONN headquarters and acquiring the Q-35 "modulator," a prototype of an improved plasma rifle. The prototype itself is in a storage vault on the first floor. To get there, you'll need to somehow defeat the complex's security robots. You can hack the terminal at the security post, but the easiest way is to obtain an employee's ID card. To do this, you'll need to agree to the tour offered by Mr. Handy (located in the reception area).

I recommend listening to the entire tour, as it's simply interesting. When you reach the planetarium, you'll need to go to the utility room on the second floor. The card is on the dashboard next to a skeleton; it's hard to miss. Take it and head into the restricted area. Mr. Brave will greet you with a welcoming speech and allow you into the complex. The utility room, behind the counter, contains a decent supply of plasma weapons and ammunition. The vault itself is locked with a password and a "Very Hard" lock. Even if you can hack it, don't rush to leave the complex.

Proceed to the third floor and retrieve the report from the bodies of the Brotherhood of Steel members. There's an alternative entrance to the vault. Climb to the second floor, go left to the employee terminals, hack them, and add your image to the database. Print out the access card to the third floor in the next room. In the center of the floor, there should be two rooms behind locked doors. Behind one of them is another utility room with medical supplies. Behind the second terminal is a terminal with prototype data and some ammunition. Not far from them, there should be another blue door to the first floor, leading to a room above the vault.

Enter it, jump into the hole in the floor, and retrieve the prototype, as well as ammunition and an energy weapons manual (they're on the safe). Don't forget to grab the report from the paladins' bodies (it'll come in handy later). There are two ways to reach the third floor. In the first case, a robot will stop you and ask for a password. If successful, 7 y/o will shout out ice cream and be able to wander the floor without any problems. Otherwise, the security robots will activate. The second option is to use the other door and hack the "Very Hard" security terminal to disable the security systems.
