Wilson
His voice is like a mute trumpet. At the moment, he and Maxwell are the only characters whose backstories are known. Wilson's last name, Higgsbury, is possibly a reference to the famous Higgs boson. He is left-handed and possibly ambidextrous.
Despite the fact that Wilson considers himself a great scientist, and probably even has a university education, he is not a scientist as such. However, after entering Maxwell's world, as the game's events unfold, he becomes not just a scientist, but a true alchemist.

Background
Before meeting Maxwell, Wilson lived in splendid isolation in a small house in the woods. Determined to become a great scientist, he devoted all his time to scientific work. However, his ambitions clearly didn't match his actual capabilities, and our hero never achieved any great success. When yet another reagent mixture explodes right in his hands, Wilson despairs.
Frustrated, he collapses into a chair, contemplating the futility of his efforts, when suddenly his thoughts are interrupted by a mysterious voice from the radio. In a wheedling tone, the voice announces that it possesses some sacred knowledge, which it agrees to share with Wilson if he is "ready for it." Wilson hastily agrees, clearly unaware of what he's agreeing to. However, the mysterious stranger keeps his word, and the next moment, Wilson's head is filled with knowledge.
Driven by this knowledge, our hero sets to work: he builds some amazing mechanism, the purpose of which he himself does not understand. When the work is complete, a voice demands the machine be started. Wilson hesitates, but the voice urges him on. He pulls the switch, the machine comes to life, and Wilson is abducted by dark hands. The machine turns out to be Maxwell's door.
