Wickerbottom is a smart, but rather arrogant and, presumably, grumpy elderly librarian. Wickerbottom has access to all prototype recipes that require a science machine (such as a backpack or chest), and can create more complex prototypes on lower-level science devices. 

She often names plants and animals (including bone-eyes and wormholes) in Latin. She is the only female character with pupils.

She may have known Maxwell, as she may have helped him translate the Umbra Codex. According to her dialogue, Wickerbottom enjoys owls and fish dishes. When struck by lightning, bones can be seen in her skirt.

Interesting facts

- Her voice sounds like an oboe. 

- Other characters in the game files also have book-reading animations. 

- Although she can never fall asleep on her own, she can be put to sleep with the Pan Flute.
