Maxwell | Don't Starve

Maxwell

Discovery | Wilson | Willow | Wolfgang | Wendy | Robot | Wickerbottom | Woody | Wes | Maxwell | Wigfried | Webber | Winona  |  Shipwrecked

Maxwell is the demon who trapped you in this world. He appears at the very beginning of the game and disappears as soon as he finishes speaking, or if you start clicking around. Maxwell is perhaps the creator of the game world. At the very least, he is capable of changing it at will. He is extremely sarcastic and cynical. He sincerely considers this world his playground, and the main character his toy.

Maxwell has his own unique "Shadow" tab, where he can create a new Codex Umbra, as well as different types of doppelgangers. However, his starting inventory has undergone changes: the Dark Sword, Night Armor, and Amethyst are missing, but there are six pieces of Dread Fuel.

He used to be a simple magician named William Carter. Maxwell loves chess and mind games in general. He is dressed in an old-fashioned, by the game's standards, early 20th-century suit.
