NPCs (Part 1)

Terraria Wiki → NPCs (Part 1)

An NPC is a non-player character in the world of Terraria. Currently, there are two dozen NPCs in the game. To spawn most NPCs, you need to build a house or room: walls, a table and chair, a light source, and doors.

The Guide appears at the start of the game. It helps you get used to Terraria and see what you can craft from the various scraps found in the dungeon. Should you sacrifice it? :)

The Nurse will come to your house after you've found and broken one of the glass hearts (usually in the dungeon), which will increase your character's health. This NPC can restore your health for silver.

Merchant - If you've managed to save up one gold coin, expect him to visit. The NPC sells torches, health replenishment bottles, and a landing net for catching bait.

Demolitionist - will want to come if bombs, dynamite, or grenades are found in the dungeon. The range of goods corresponds to this NPC's name.

Gunsmith - moves into your home after you somehow come into possession of a weapon (musket, pistol, etc.). Sells ammunition and some illegal weapons (at night).

Dryad – she'll appear after you defeat one of the Terraria bosses. Among her wares is a cleansing powder that helps you navigate the distortion.

Tailor - when killing monsters in Terraria, you need to look neat :) And this NPC sells stylish items. He appears after defeating the Skeletron boss.

The Fisherman hangs out near the ocean, palm trees, and sand. He gives quests to catch fish, which can yield decent rewards (including accessories). Like the others, he can move into your house.

The Goblin Inventor is imprisoned in the Terraria Dungeon. Once freed, he moves into your home and offers to purchase an Engineer's Workshop. He can also reforge various items for gold.

Pirate - has a ship's cannon and cannonballs for sale. Appears after surviving a pirate invasion, including the Flying Dutchman.

The Innkeeper is another imprisoned non-player character. Once released, he unlocks the Old Army event (Eternia Crystal) and sells his gear for Defender's Medals.
