How to Tame Beefalo (Part 2)

Now let's get to the fun part: your pet's personality.

Personality is acquired throughout the domestication process, but can change depending on your actions. Once fully tamed, Beefalo will acquire one of four personalities, which will remain with it forever. If you want to change its personality, let it run wild, then retrain it.

It's time to familiarize yourself with the personalities. There are only four in the game. So, let's get started.

Evil Beefalo is, in my opinion, the most useful character. It can easily kill any Boss (if you're brave enough, of course).

It's ideal when combined with  the Battle Saddle.

How to obtain this character?

  • Frequent battles on Beefalo are required. Damage doesn't matter; the key is the number of attacks.
  • Stats: Damage: 50. Speed: 7. Min. Obedience: 45% .

The Rolling Beefalo is an excellent choice for those who love speed and travel. With it, you can easily escape a pack of Hounds or reach an Antlion on the other side of the world faster than the wind.

Ideal in combination with a Light Saddle.

How to obtain this trait?

  • Ride the Beefalo for as long as possible. Feed it minimally.
  • Stats: Damage: 25. Speed: 8. Min. Obedience: 95%.

Chubby Beefalo is a lifesaver for players who are constantly losing their minds and those who appreciate cuteness. This character is the slowest, deals the least damage, but regenerates  6.25 Sanity  per minute when you're near it.

How to get this character?

  • Maintain a hunger level above  300.
  • Stats: Damage: 20. Speed: 6.5. Min. Obedience: 60%.

A regular Beefalo is no different from the Beefalo you shave at night in winter. It's simply a tamed version of them.

How to obtain this personality?

  • You need to strike a balance between all the methods described above for obtaining the previous three personality traits.
  • Stats: Unknown.

How do I know what personality my Beefalo will acquire?

Each personality is characterized by a specific face, which you saw above. Your Beefalo's face will change as you tame it.

What determines how my Beefalo's face changes? The face changes based on your actions. To change it, you need to earn points for the desired personality. Your Beefalo's face will change after earning  1  personality point.

◆ Each attack dealt/received adds  0.04 points  to Evil  character.

◆ Riding for 10 seconds adds  0.04 points  to Rolling  character .

◆ Being full >  300 units for 10 seconds adds  0.04 points  to Plump  character.

Example:  If you dealt/received 25 attacks in total, your Beefalo will acquire an  Evil  character face.

  • 0.04 * 25 = 1

Important! The number of points for the trait you want must be greater than the sum of the points for the other two. In other words, if, for example, your Beefalo has  more than  1 Evil trait but less than the sum of its  Rolling  and  Plump  traits, you won't get the Evil trait.

Additional material

◆ Beefalo can be used to transport Suspicious Marble  and  Marble/Stone Statues.

◆ All Beefalo recover 7 health every 10 seconds .

◆ If a Beefalo's health is below 20%  , the screen will be red while riding.

◆ A fully tamed Beefalo ignores all breeding seasons.

◆ During a breeding season, an incompletely tamed Beefalo will attack you unless you have a Beefalo Cap.

◆ Ranged attacks damage the rider, not the Beefalo.

◆ Paths and Walking Sticks do not increase the riding speed of Beefalo.

◆ Beefalo have a 4x health recovery multiplier when eating. For example, if you feed your Beefalo a Dragon Fruit Pie, it will recover 160 health instead of 40. Domesticating Beefalo isn't the easiest task, requiring a significant amount of time and resources.

No one knows how things might go the next day in the world of DST. Your Beefalo might throw you off during a boss fight, kill you during breeding season, die in the most stupid way, or you might simply run out of food or a brush, causing it to eventually go feral and you lose everything. But with the right approach, you can succeed!

General Strategy

1.  Start the domestication process by feeding Beefalo 1 piece of Cut Grass.

2.  The domestication process has begun. Your faithful companion will lose  300 hunger  every in-game day, try to replenish this amount of hunger daily.

To do this, you will need:

◆  4 Dragon Fruit Tarts

◆  8 Handfuls of Jam

◆  8 Butterfly Muffins

◆  12 units of Ratatouille

◆  32 units of Twigs

◆  64 units of Cut Gras

3.  Don't forget to ride Beefalo every in-game day.

4.  Before mounting Beefalo, feed it  5-7 Twigs / Cut Grass . If it throws you off,  1-2 Twigs / Cut Grass are enough to mount it again.

5.  Repeat steps 2, 3, and 4 every in-game day until it is fully domesticated and has acquired a personality. (20 in-game days or 15 in-game days with daily use of the Brush)

◆ Ride as long as possible - get a Rolling Beefalo.

◆ Fight as often as possible - get an Angry Beefalo.

◆ Give it as much food as possible - get a Chubby Beefalo.

6.  Once the domestication process is complete, a bright flash will change the appearance of your Beefalo. Don't forget to feed it  6-10 Twigs  /  Cut Grass daily, ride it for at least 10 seconds, place and change the Salt Stone in the pen every 14 days to maintain the domesticated state.

I hope I've helped you understand all the details associated with this issue and that you can easily tame absolutely any, even the most stubborn Beefalo.
