Fallout: New Vegas Walkthrough -> Main Factions

New California Republic (NCR) - In 2280, the New California Republic battles Caesar's Legion for control of New Vegas. The NCR base is located at the former McCarran Airport. The NCR wages a desperate war but is losing ground to the Legion. One of their forward bases, Camp Nelson, is completely destroyed by a Legion task force, echoing the horrific losses suffered at Fort Aradesh.

NCR morale is at an all-time low. They're trying to get the Helios I solar power plant working so they can use it to destroy Caesar's Legion. A portion of the New California Republic group is in New Vegas, having lost contact with the rest for some time.

Caesar's Legion is a large, powerful, and ruthless organization modeled after Ancient Rome. Its founder and leader is the rather cunning and charismatic Caesar. The Legion is a well-organized fighting force, operating primarily east of the Grand Canyon. Its ranks are composed primarily of former natives and savages and their younger descendants.

The Legion grew in power during the reign of one of the wasteland's most powerful tribes, the Braided Hair, which ruled all neighboring territories and collected tribute in the form of food, supplies, and slaves. The Legion repelled an attack by the Braided Hair, who soon withdrew from the land. The weakened and battered remnants of the tribe were soon finished off by the Legion, leaving no survivors except one woman. This woman later became the tribal goddess Hecate.

Mr. House is one of the key characters in Fallout: New Vegas. He is located in the Lucky 38 casino. Mr. House was born before the Great War and was the CEO of RobCo Industries. Thanks to his influence and efforts, Vegas still exists. Although, as he puts it, "It's just a neon shadow of what it once was."

He voluntarily placed himself in a special capsule, which granted him virtually eternal life. His estimated age is 260 years. Unfortunately, prolonged use of the capsule has had a devastating effect on his body—he has practically become a mummy. If he leaves his capsule for even a second, he will die in about a year due to external pollutants. For this reason, Mr. House leads a reclusive life.
