The Forest biome is the most common and useful terrain in the game. You typically begin your journey through Negolodayka near it. It's a lot of fun to set forest fires, destroying entire tracts of trees and everything within reach. There are two main types of this biome: regular forest and old forest. The latter differs from regular forest in that it doesn't leave cones when you cut down trees.
What is found in the forest?
Lots of things! For example, spiders and pigs are common in the forest. Occasionally, you'll see swamp dwellers called Merms if the forest passes through their biome. Due to the large number of trees, a glitch with Ents can occur, and you'll find a bunch of these bosses, 8-10 of them, in one spot, completely neutral to you. (Theoretically, this happens if you chop down a lot of trees early on.) Hares are rare in the forest, as are other wildlife (aside from crows and birds). And food isn't particularly abundant, compared to, say, a clearing. However, the forest does have "perfectly normal" trees, which can yield living logs for crafting magical weapons (shadow armor, swords, etc.). Evil flowers, which lower your sanity (used in crafting Dread Fuel), usually grow around these trees.
The only beaver who probably thrives in the forest is Woody the Beaver. The unlimited number of trees contributes to a long and carefree life as a Lycan. While food is scarce, you'll find fire-starting materials (branches, grass, logs, flint), so you won't have to worry about night terrors or the onset of winter. However, starvation is a real possibility, so it's not a good place to build a permanent base in Dauntless: Toogether. A forest intersects with another biome (savannah with rabbits/beefalo, a berry clearing, a deciduous forest with chestnuts, etc.) and would be ideal. You'll be lucky if there's a frog pond near your base, as forest spiders can help you quickly craft a fishing rod.
Maxwell Portal
I also forgot to mention that the old forest (or maybe even the regular one) contains a Maxwell portal leading to other dimensions. Specifically, it complicates the game in one of several ways, in a completely new world (i.e., if you die in the portal, you won't die in the main game, but will simply respawn near the entrance point). The options are: teleporting to the winter season with the Cyclops-deer , traveling to a world of raining frogs, being sent into an endless night, and so on. A good way to have fun if you're looking for a thrill... Overall, the forest is a biome like any other, and you can live there, as long as you're careful. What are your thoughts on this?
