Quests for Caesar's Legion

Fallout: New Vegas Walkthrough -> Quests for Caesar's Legion

A brutal organization modeled on ancient Roman rule. It was first mentioned in the Van Buren project. The group was founded in 2238, when missionary Joshua Graham discovered two Followers of the Apocalypse in the Grand Canyon. One of them became the great Caesar, and Joshua became his confidant. The Legion gained power by annexing tribes east of the Grand Canyon. The defeated tribes paid the Legion tribute in slaves.

In 2250, Caesar's forces destroyed the NCR outpost, Fort Aradesh, and advanced as far as Hoover Dam, but suffered a fiasco. Caesar blamed Graham for this, ordered him doused in tar, and thrown into the Grand Canyon. From then on, the fallen legate became known as the Scorched One, and his place was taken by the brutal Lanius.

Evil lurks in the east...

Both in the southern and central Mojave, there are enough agile legionnaires to keep Republic soldiers from feeling like a bed of roses. Caesar's Legion is a mobile and well-armed force, but their weak point is their uniforms. Their headquarters are located far beyond the river. Initially, we're not welcome there, and access to this location is only possible through the story. They're one of the strongest factions in the game, but we won't be given the chance to fight under the Red Bull's banner. One random assignment, another quest in Nelson, and a couple of missions in Caesar's camp—that's all we can hope for, not counting the story missions.

Cruel Heart (Vul-pes Inculta)

Sooner or later, we'll visit the ruined Nipton. A detachment of legionnaires led by Vulpes awaits us near the town hall. In a conversation with him, admire the Legion's deeds and gain good reputation. To complete the quest, head to the Mojave outpost and report the legionnaires' atrocities to the local sergeant. You can kill him (by choosing "Hail, Caesar!" in the 8th dialogue) – this will boost your Legion's reputation a bit more.

My name is Legion (Dead Sea)

This mission is easy to miss if you're helping NCR soldiers from Forlorn Hope and living a life focused on exterminating Legionnaires. Dean Deadmore's detachment has established a stronghold in Nelson, and he'll ask you to eliminate the command staff of the Forlorn Hope camp. Three officers must be eliminated, preferably at night and with a Stealth Boy if you don't want to ruin your relationship with the NCR. It's best to kill them in their sleep with a melee weapon, quietly. The reward will be Legion fame, experience, and the unique Liberator machete.

The remaining quests can be found in the "Fort" location, where Caesar's camp is located. Access is only possible after completing the "Ring" quest (regardless of its outcome). Vulpes will issue an invitation, and we can freely travel to the Fort using the barge in Cottonwood Cove.

Interestingly, if the Cottonwood camp is destroyed by radioactive waste, the ferryman will offer a few kind words, suggesting that the camp's inhabitants should have stayed away from the area, knowing the threat.

Pointing finger (Vulpes Inculta)

An old acquaintance offers to work as a "scarecrow"—go to Vault 21, find a lady there, and threaten the gentlemen, who clearly don't wish her well, with Caesar's retribution if they don't leave peacefully. The conflict is resolved peacefully with a speech skill of 50 or if you've earned the reputation of an "idol" in Omerta society. As a reward, you'll receive experience and Legion fame.

Howitzer (Lucius)

There's a broken artillery piece in Caesar's camp, and no one else can fix it. We head to Nellis Air Force Base and ask Pearl about parts for the gun. If you've completed the bombers' quests and become their "idol," Pearl will direct you to the workshop, where you'll find what you need. All that's left is to insert the part into the howitzer and receive experience and a boost to your Legion reputation.

Caesar's Grace (Frumentarius in Disguise)

Once we've become a regular at the Legionnaires' camp, Caesar will begin allocating us pocket money. One day, a messenger will come running to you and give you the coordinates of a stash containing money, medicine, and equipment. All that's left is to find the loot boxes near the Sniper's Perch and collect the gifts. Unmarked quests aren't plentiful in the Legion. In Cottonwood Cove, Aurelius wants to be brought dog tags from fallen NCR soldiers, and he rewards you with Legion fame for this. In the same camp, you can show the local gunsmith how to defuse mines and upgrade explosives, which also rewards you with Legion fame.

In Caesar's camp, talk to Siri the healer. Tell her (Survival 20) how to produce more healing powder—she'll reward you with karma and occasionally give you brok flowers as a friend of the Legion.

Dog breeder Antony took a toy – Sergeant Teddy – from the little slave Melody. We go to the legionnaire, who agrees to give us the desired item if we defeat four dogs in the arena. With a developed barter (60 units), we can talk Antony into reducing the number of dogs to two, and if we have a good reputation with the Legion, hint, and he will give the toy without a fight. Returning Teddy to the girl will give us good fame.

Note: another way to increase reputation is to compete in the arena. This activity is only available to male characters. If you play as a girl, you will only be able to fight Benny, Lupa, and the dogs from Sergeant Teddy's quest in the arena. Women will not be allowed to enter the arena against other legionnaires.
