You'll find yourself in a glass room. You'll be told about a test and many other details. After this is over, a portal will open in the room. Step into it, and you'll emerge outside your glass aquarium. Practice moving left and right, jumping, and squatting. Then move forward.
Room #0
Simply take the cube and place it on the button, then proceed through the door that opens.
Room #1
As soon as you exit the elevator, go down into the alcove and wait for the portal to open to the room with the box. Once this happens, jump in, grab the box, and exit.
Then wait for the portal to open again, but this time to the room with the button. Run in, place the box on the button, and exit. Then wait for the portal to open again, but this time to the room with the open door. Jump into the portal and go through the door to the elevator.
Room #2
Upon entering the room, you'll find yourself facing a closed door. Turn left. Notice the glass wall to the left of the door, and behind it is a large room with a white cannon. It fires in all directions, and when it hits a surface, it opens a portal—the entrance. The exit is a yellow portal you can see a little higher up.
The door won't open until you listen to a lecture about the taste of blood in your mouth and the side effects of the field, which can affect your teeth. After that, the door will finally open for you. Go down the stairs. Find yourself in a narrow dead end, wait until the cannon fires through the opening in the left wall, opening a portal in the right wall.
Enter it, and you'll emerge from the yellow portal you observed earlier. Since there's no longer any glass separating you from the central niche, go down and retrieve the cannon. Excellent! Now you can create portals yourself, but only one at a time. A second shot will cause the previous portal to disappear.
So, now place an entrance on any wall and exit through the yellow portal again, as before. Now, to the right of the portal, a second door will open, leading to the exit of this room.
Room #3
This is where you'll need to start learning how to use the portal gun and remember one thing: portals are two-way. This means you don't have to enter the blue portal and exit the yellow one. Portals also work the other way; you can place a blue portal, enter the yellow portal, and exit the blue one you just created. Keep this in mind as you begin to progress through this room.
Inside the room, you'll encounter a large gap that you can't cross with a simple jump. However, on the opposite side, you'll see a yellow portal. So, simply open the blue door in any wall and enter.
You'll emerge from the yellow portal on the other side of the gap. However, once you're on the other side, you'll see that the exit is on a rise and you can't simply jump up. This is where the fact that portals are two-way can help. Shoot any wall near the exit to open a blue portal. Then, enter the yellow portal you just exited, and you'll find yourself right next to the entrance.
Room #4
A fairly simple puzzle. Directly in front of you as you exit the room, you'll see a large red button. To the right of it, a yellow portal will open in the wall. Walk forward a little and you'll see the holder drop a crate into a pit. Approach the edge and jump into it, open a portal in any wall, grab the crate, and exit.
Enter your portal and exit through the yellow portal, which is open near the button, taking the crate with you. Place the crate on the button and head to the exit. Another important property of portals in this room is that you can carry any object through them and use them to transport any matter.
Room #5
In this room, you'll find two red buttons and two raised platforms behind the buttons. A little further on, you'll find a recess with a cube in it. Everything here is also fairly simple. Jump into the recess, place the portal on any wall, grab the box, and enter the portal. You'll emerge from the orange portal onto one of the platforms. Carefully approach the edge and release the box, dropping it.
Now shoot the wall opposite and open a blue portal in the wall so that when you exit, you'll find yourself on the second platform with the second box. After that, turn around and enter the orange portal you just exited from. You'll exit from your own portal, on the platform next to the box.
Grab the box and jump down with it, then place it and the second box you dropped earlier on the buttons and go through the door that opens. You'll find yourself in a small, enclosed room with a glass ceiling. Look up and you'll see an open orange portal. To get out of this dead end, place a portal on any wall and enter. You'll exit through the orange portal, then head into the elevator.
Room #6
Here you'll encounter small energy clots for the first time; touching them will instantly kill you. In this room, a ball will shoot a beam of particles straight down from the ceiling. An orange portal will be placed on the floor, directly beneath the spot where the energy clots will land. To the right of this portal, a special mechanism—a receiver—will be installed on the floor. It can open doors or move platforms if charged with an energy clots.
Your task is to open the portal directly above this device (this spot will be highlighted by a dim orange circle). Afterwards, the clots will enter the orange portal, exit your blue portal, and land directly on the receiver. This, in turn, will activate a platform that will lift you to the exit.
In addition to the new object and its operating rules, understand one more thing: the portal does not change the kinetic energy of objects in any way. That is, if a ball (for example) enters the portal while falling, it will move at the same speed when exiting the exit portal.
Room #7
is very similar to the previous sixth room. A ball will also be released, only this time horizontally, and the receiver for it will be located on the ceiling, with an orange portal open beneath it. Place your portal on the wall where the energy ball hits, so it flies in there and exits through the orange exit and hits the receiver. This will set the platform located a little further away in motion.
However, you won't be able to reach it with a simple jump. Therefore, you need to fire your cannon to create a portal on the ceiling above the platform's path. Now, using the rule that portals are two-way, approach the orange portal on the floor and time everything so that you enter the orange entrance and fall out of your ceiling exit directly onto the platform. From there, jump to the elevator.
Room #8
The next room won't be too difficult. You'll find yourself in front of a large pool. Immediately to your left will be a cannon firing energy bolts. To your right will be a platform, currently stationary, and next to it on the wall will be a receiver for an energy bolt, which sets the platform in motion.
An orange portal will be open on the left. So, your task is to first set the platform in motion. Portal - Portal. Walkthrough. 0 0 Here, you'll probably encounter your first real threat to life. To do this, place a portal on the wall so that the energy bolt fired by the cannon hits your portal. After it hits your portal, it will fly out through the orange portal in the left wall.
As soon as this happens, immediately place the portal in a new location—on the left wall, directly opposite the energy receiver. The energy bolt, flying out of the orange portal, will fly across the room, hit the wall, and fly back into the orange portal. If you manage to move the portal, it will fly out of the blue portal, after which it will hit the receiver.
This will set the platform in motion. Now place a portal somewhere near you and step into it. You'll emerge from the same orange portal. Now place a portal on the opposite wall anywhere along the platform's path (alternatively, you can place it on the ceiling). Then, turn toward the orange portal and time everything so that when you exit your blue portal, you land directly on the moving platform.
Room #9
Is a fairly easy room; it's divided into two parts. The first part will contain a box, and on a raised platform will be an open orange portal. The second part of the room will contain a button that will open the door to the exit. The difficulty is that the passage between the two parts of the room contains a field that disperses all objects, including cubes. Therefore, simply carrying a cube to the button won't work.
Here's how to proceed: place a portal, grab the box, and enter your portal. You'll find yourself on that platform, on a raised platform. Afterward, look around and you'll see a small hole in the wall dividing the two rooms. You can't enter it yourself; the box is there.
So, fire your cannon into it to open a portal in that part of the room. Then grab the box again and enter the orange portal. You'll emerge in the second half of the room with the box, bypassing the force field. Place the box on the button and exit through the door that opens.
Room #10
In this room, you'll once again have to use portals' ability to store the kinetic energy of objects. Immediately after entering, you'll find yourself in front of a raised platform that you can't easily jump onto; there won't be any platforms or boxes nearby. However, directly above you, an orange portal will be open on the wall, just above the raised platform.
To climb the obstacle, open a portal somewhere near you and jump into it from the orange exit. You should fly out with the same force as you jumped into the blue portal. Then, proceed further. Further down, you'll encounter a cliff, which you can't easily jump over. However, above the cliff, there will again be an orange portal.
However, this time, if you simply open the portal in front of you and jump into it, you won't have enough range. Therefore, approach the cliff and place the portal at the bottom, then jump off the cliff directly into the portal. Accelerating as you fall, you'll enter the portal fast enough to fly over the cliff when you exit the exit at the same speed.
The story will then repeat itself; you'll find a gap in front of you. Your goal is to climb to the opposite platform, to the very top; it's shaped like those large steps. Only this time, the orange portal will be located at the bottom. You'll need to place the portal on the upper wall. Fall down into the orange portal, and you'll emerge from your portal onto the first step of the opposite platform.
Then, raise your portal even higher and fall down again. This time, you'll fly longer, gain even more speed, and reach the second step of the platform. Repeat this trick again to reach the very top.
Room 11
In this room, you'll need to gain the ability to open two portals yourself. You'll initially find yourself in a small, enclosed cubicle with windows. In the middle of the room, there's a cannon that slowly rotates, temporarily placing portals in four different locations.
Open a portal somewhere near you and wait for the orange portal to open on the platform with the button. You'll know this because you can see the exit portal from the entrance portal. As soon as you see the platform with the button, step into the portal. Then, wait for the cannon to complete a full circle and place the orange portal next to you again. Press the button and fire your portal into the gap in the wall, then jump into the orange portal next to you.
You'll find yourself in the next room, where a cannon periodically fires energy bolts at the wall. Wait for the cannon to open an orange portal opposite the energy receiver. Then, place a blue portal in the wall where the cannon's energy bolt hits. It should fly into your portal and out of the portal opposite the receiver, so that after a short straight flight, it flies into the receiver.
This will power the platform in the middle of the room, allowing you to reach the cannon and retrieve it. To do this, open the blue portal so that you can enter it yourself and wait for the cannon to open a portal near the moving platform (this is done as before by contemplating the view through your portal, as if through a window).
As soon as this happens, enter your portal and stand on the platform. It will begin to move and carry you to the cannon that places the orange portals. As soon as the elevator takes you to the cannon, take it. Now you can place both portals where you need them (blue - left mouse button, orange - right).
After you pick up the cannon, a column with a button will rise from below. Press it and shoot an orange portal into the gap in the wall that opens. Then, turn around and ride the portal back to the blue portal. Enter it, and you'll be at the exit.
Room 12
Is very similar to room 10. You'll find yourself in front of a chasm, and you'll need to climb to the top. Approach the cliff, place the portal at the bottom of the chasm, and the second one as high as possible on the wall opposite you. Then, jump from the height into the first portal.
You'll fly out of the second and land on a platform one level above your starting position. Turn around and place the exit portal even higher, then fall down the cliff again into the first portal. This will take you up another level. Here you'll see a button, and next to it, a platform that's been intentionally raised back slightly, tilted slightly.
Place the portal on it and jump down again. Thanks to the good acceleration and the fact that the exit portal is placed on a sloped surface, you'll fly out of it like a cannonball, diagonally upward. Where you end up, you need to pick up the box and deliver it to the previous platform, place the cube on the button there, and repeat the cannonball's flight to return to the very top, only this time the exit door will be open.
