New Vegas Outskirts (quests)

Fallout: New Vegas Walkthrough -> New Vegas Outskirts (quests)

In the central Mojave, not far from the starry New Vegas, lies the headquarters of the Red Caravan Company. The head of this business, Alice McLafferty, is striving for a monopoly on the private trucking market and will stop at nothing to achieve this. She pays generously and gives clear instructions. We have a good gun and persuasive skills. Why not help?

You Can Count on Me (Alice McLafferty)

A series of courier and spy missions. After delivering the package to Hildern, Alice will give you three more tasks. First, we'll convince Cass (barter 50 or 75, or speech 50 or 75) to sell all rights to her caravan, then force Henry Jamison to quit his job (speech 50). Finally, we'll infiltrate the Gunsmiths' factory and steal the plans. Wait for the guards to leave, slip into the facility (lockpicking 50), and enter the building.

You can wait until all the workers have gone to bed, then enter the workshop and download the data from the terminal, or activate the Stealth Boy to grab the plans directly. The reward for each of the three quest stages is 500 caps, and at the end, experience and NCR fame.

NOTE: If you leave a trace while infiltrating the Gunsmiths' headquarters, you might leave a trace. Alice will cut your salary to four hundred caps.

Pressing (Alice McLafferty)

Someone's started paying with counterfeit bottle caps, and the company's CEO isn't happy about it. A tour of Sunset Sarsaparilla's headquarters awaits. It's not difficult: we disable the bottle cap press, shooting lone security robots along the way. Reward: 500 bottle caps, a little experience, and NCR fame.

West of New Vegas lies the peaceful Westside district. The only task is literally right there: find the hatch to the underground Thorn location and meet the local arena attendant. You'll be offered the opportunity to fight or place bets, but if you want a decent reward, offer your help and be prepared to run and shoot a lot.

Take It All (Red Lucy)

You're a hunter, targeting the eggs of the Mojave's most dangerous mutants. The Overseer will offer you clutches of mantis, radscorpion, fire gecko, cazador, night stalker, and deathclaw eggs, one after another. There are no complicated paths—follow the marker, kill the predators, and collect the eggs. For each completed task, Lucy will drop caps, ammo, and sometimes weapons.

To increase your cash prize, use barter (50, 60, 70, 80, 90, and 100, respectively). Against the deathclaws, use heavier weapons—a grenade launcher or a high-caliber sniper rifle. If you're going through Deadwind Cave, grab some antipersonnel mines. At the end of the quest, the red fury will give you a unique shotgun, the Dinner Bell, and offer to "share all of Thorn's riches."

NOTE: The eggs you previously collected during adventures will not work for these quests. In any case, you should head to the marked locations and pick up the "Egg Cluster" item.

North of the Strip is North Vegas Plaza. This is an independent region, and there's room for everyone here, as long as they behave peacefully and don't wave guns around.

Somebody's Gotta Keep an Eye on This (Crendon)

The city guard offers us (Speech 45) to restore order in this region. First, we'll drive away the squatters (Speech 45). The next step: we need to go down to the northern sewer and intimidate (Speech 65) the gang of troublemakers. Finally, we'll have to go to the Hostetler house, where we'll be asked to follow a girl named Alice and find out about her new acquaintances.

After that, we go to Jules, then to the "Gray Building," where we trick (Speech 70) the naive thug, unlock Andy's room (Lockpick 50, Karma loss), and find a note on it. A ghoul will intercept you on the way out—don't attack him, just leave calmly. Alice will find you in the Hostetler house. To peacefully resolve a family conflict, first achieve a Speech Skill of 70, then an Intelligence Skill of 7, and then select "Give them a chance." Mrs. Hostetler will give you bottle caps (if your barter is 65, you'll get even more bottle caps).
