Mutants

Stalker: Call of Pripyat  → Mutants

Wild boars are "a beast weighing three hundred kilograms—they're no toys! Try not to get in its path when hunting. On the other hand, its inertia is also quite impressive: you know, such a huge carcass can't turn around instantly. So, you dodge it—and fire a shot!"

Flesh - "the most harmless of mutants. They try to stay away from stalkers, but if you attack them, they will defend themselves. It is more dangerous if a boar is found among the Flesh."

Blind dogs are not as dangerous alone as they are in a pack. They only attack if they are hungry, but they are almost always hungry. If you are hunting a pack, try to attack from a higher position, otherwise you will simply be crushed by the onslaught, especially if there are several experienced dogs in the pack.

Pseudo-dogs are not much more resilient than blind dogs, but they are more cunning—and therefore more dangerous. If a whole pack suddenly appears in place of one, remember: those attacking you are phantoms. A real pseudo-dog will keep its distance, only occasionally running up to bite. So try to identify it quickly. As soon as the real one dies, all the phantoms will immediately disappear.

Snorks are "the last remnants of humanity... they have no peace. A single Snork poses little danger to a skilled hunter. You wait for it to leap at you, and in mid-flight, you fire a round of pellets at it. It's worse when there are several of them: then you have to hit them with all your might, dodging their jumps along the way. Snorks know this, which is why they prefer not to attack individually."

Jerboas are a hunter's terror! One of the stupidest mistakes you can make in life is to underestimate these little creatures because of their small size. Jerboas are incredibly fast and agile, and they always travel in large flocks. As soon as they start pulling you apart, bit by bit, you'll wake up in a flash! The main thing is that it's not too late. You see, the worst part is, it's very difficult to hit a jerboa. That's why I advise all stalkers to always carry a shotgun with extra ammo, just in case...

Bloodsuckers are "hunters of hunters! Their camouflage is a dream! When they're camouflaged, they're practically invisible. If you're going after a bloodsucker, try to scare it off: you'll only notice it when it's moving. Also, remember that these creatures tend to come up behind their victims and wrap their tentacles around their necks... damn, disgusting! Basically, if you're unlucky enough to run into a family of bloodsuckers, always make sure your back is clear."

Burers use gravity to attack. Get close, and he'll throw you back; show up from a distance , and he'll throw something heavier at you. The tactic is this: hit from a medium distance, and most importantly, don't stand still for an extra second. Just conserve your strength and use it wisely: a burer can even rip a weapon out of a hunter's hands with his gravity. He's good at it, especially if the hunter is weakened.

Poltergeists - "There are two types: some use gravity to throw objects at you, others try to fry you. Inexperienced people start running in circles, which is exactly what you don't want. Poltergeists have one peculiarity, or rather two: they're blind and deaf. They can't see or hear, but they can sense everything moving in their field. An experienced poltergeist hunter handles it like this: freeze for a while, fire, and freeze again."

Pseudo-giants - "The hardest thing about this beast is killing it: it's as resilient as a tank. The most effective thing I can recommend is to try shooting it point-blank with buckshot. Just remember: the giant will hurl everything that isn't covered in two meters of concrete, no matter how much it weighs. So, attack it from above—it's best—just make sure you have a solid base."

Controllers - "They fight you with their brains. Not in the sense that they think, but in the sense that they're telepathic. When hunting them, use cover more often. The controller must see you, otherwise he won't be able to influence you. And one more thing: he can't run at all. So, if he's really desperate, try giving him a grenade."

Chimeras are "very dangerous predators. They're nocturnal. They'll sneak up behind you in the dark and pounce. If you know there's a chimera nearby, keep your head turned 360 degrees and don't forget to watch your friends' backs."
