Portal 2 Walkthrough → Course 6: Art Therapy [Portal 2: Co-op]
The recently released expansion for Portal 2 introduced a time-based mode, portals, and, most importantly, a new chapter in the adventures of two robots. This guide will help you solve all the puzzles.
To unlock new levels, select standard co-op in the main menu. If you've already completed the main campaign, a link to new levels will open in the corner of the lobby.
There are a total of 9 maps in the new co-op mode.
Test Chamber 1
Part 1
To pass this level, you have to split up - one goes right , the other - left .
First, destroy the turrets on the left side. To do this, the player on the right needs to pick up the refraction cube (in the corner) and hold it to the laser. Now the player on the left can proceed freely, but they need the cube to destroy the turrets on the right side and open the doors.
Be a boss: With agility and the ability to use the cube as cover, you can bypass the turrets and destroy them with the cube itself. However, you'll still have to move it from the right to the left side. Pass the cube by placing portals as shown in the screenshot and pressing the button to allow the cube to fly to the other side. Next, stand on the plate on the right side so the left player can cross. On the right side, place portals under the laser and near the corridor with the turrets. Now all that's left is for the left player to destroy the turrets and place the cube on the button. Let's move on!
Part 2
To begin, move to the other side (both players). Your goal in this level is to move the cube without corners (hereinafter referred to as the ball) to the player on the right , to the very end of the level.
Place a portal at point 1 in the screenshot. When the ball passes through your portal, immediately cross the confiscation field and place a portal at point 2. The player on the right, after the ball passes through portals 1, must cross the field and immediately cross to the other side at points 2. Accept the ball and place it on the button. That's it!
Test Chamber 2
This puzzle consists of only one part. You need to make the refraction cube float in the air and activate the elevator exiting the level, but you both need to be on it.
Have the first player place the portals ( yellow and red in the screenshot ) and take the cube. The laser receiver will disable the confiscation field, allowing the second player to fly through the tunnel undisturbed . After the flight, the second player places one of the portals on the light bridge and exits the room. The cube can now be lowered.
Test Chamber 3
We need the bridge to prevent the cube from flying past the lasers and activate the elevator. Place portals as shown in the screenshot above and send the cube down the tunnel. Remember to point it in the same direction as the tunnel. Run to the elevator, climb it, and complete the level!
Ahead of us is a vast acid lake. There's no point in entering the room to the right yet; you can't do anything with it. You need to reach the button in the far right corner of the room. First, one player prepares portals at the blue dots, while the other helps them cross from one side to the other by placing portals at the red dots.
The other player should then enter the structure in the left corner, climb up, and fly out, placing one portal on the inclined surface and the other on the ceiling behind the inclined surface. Enter the portal on the inclined surface, and as you fall down, move the portal from the ceiling under you. Now you should fly to the other side and press the button.
Be a boss : Notice how there are no portals in the screenshot above? You can bypass this setup by simply placing one portal at the blue dot on the right (in the screenshot above) and another near one of the catapults. Upon landing, you'll bounce off the ground and fly through the portal directly to the button.
Remember that room I told you not to enter yet? Now that you've unlocked the ramp, you can launch cubes across the lake. Another player must catch them and place them on the button near the exit. Level complete!
Test Chamber 4
Part 1
Jump to the other side by creating a bridge ( yellow and red portals) and pouring blue gel onto both sides using the walls above. Bounce to the other side. You can easily swing across the bridge using the gel-covered floor (where the blue portal is in the screenshot ).
Part 2
First, you need to reach the cube and place it on the plate to activate the exit platform. One player builds a bridge to the plate , the other runs a boost gel from the portal at the entrance, and a blue gel from the portal above the exit bridge. Accelerate, catch the cube, and place it on the plate.
The second bridge is practically the same. Before placing the second bridge, run the blue gel through portal 1. Now run the light bridge from portal 2 and coat it with acceleration gel (portal 3 ). The blue gel should flow out of the pipe on its own. Run and fly straight to the level exit. Victory!
Test Chamber 5
We take in the sights and then navigate the traditional "one-second levers." We've entered a completely non-portalable room, but we have portal gel at our disposal ! Use it as shown in the screenshots. Don't forget to grab the cube!
Paint's Crazy Skills
We shoot down the turrets and put the cube back in place. Level completed!
Test Chamber 6
To begin, grab the refraction cube with a friend. It's impossible to do this alone (the cube falls into the water), so if one of you ends up at the bottom without the cube and the other is still at the top, the other one needs to go down as well.
After grabbing the cube, we climb up (together) using the catapult and deflect the laser beam into the receiver to form a light bridge. Now one of you should place a portal at the other end and stand there. The other, after waiting for their partner, takes the cube and deactivates the bridge. The player standing near the portal should fall into the small room, where they place the portal into the white wall.
The player with the cube returns and walks along the bridge almost to the exit. On the opposite side will be a white wall where they should place a portal. We climb down and replace the cube. We climb back up together, but this time we place another portal, extending the light bridge all the way to the end of the level.
Test Chamber 7
To escape this room, we need to obtain a Refracting Cube and a Cube Without Corners . Let's start with the Refracting Cube. Have your friend place portals in the pit and the wall opposite the tunnel (points 1 ), while you build a tunnel at points 2. Fly into the tunnel and move along it until you reach the button near the acid.
When you press the button, your friend should guide the laser through the 3 portals to change the tunnel's direction. Catch the falling cube and exit the tunnel. Now you can destroy the turrets and retrieve the ball.
Construct the tunnel as shown in the screenshot. Inside the room with the cube, your friend should construct the tunnel. Use the cube to change the tunnel's direction and guide the ball through the tunnel. Be sure to collect the ball before it reaches the confiscation field. Place it in the receiver (this removes the field) and take the ball out.
Now it's a simple matter: position the cube as shown in the screenshot above (but don't turn on the lasers yet), step onto the first elevator, and use the tunnel to insert the ball into the receiver. Then move to the second elevator and guide the lasers through the cube. The level is complete!
Test Chamber 8
First, lead your friend across the field. Stand on the plate in the very corner; this should open a portal wall. Fill the path in front of it with acceleration gel (both through the rotating wall and through the walls near the ceiling on the opposite side). Now place portals on the rotating and tilted walls ( the purple and blue portals) and send your friend across.
You need to get to the button in the far corner of the chamber. Have your friend place a portal in the wall between the boxes (they can be moved using the plate next to the one we used earlier). Now have your friend place a portal on the slanted wall on their side, and you on yours, under the pipe with the blue gel. A small amount of the gel will fall onto the floor, from which your friend can jump and press the button.
A refraction cube has appeared—you need to move it under the laser in the right corner. The plate on your friend's side disables the confiscation field, and you can then move down to him. For now, place the cube on the plate.
Fill the wall opposite the laser room with blue gel using the inclined wall ( 1 in the screenshot below). Leave the portal and, with your friend's help, return to the booster bar. Place the portal on the revolving door, accelerate, and you'll find yourself in the laser chamber! Now have your friend pass you the cube through portals 1 and 2. Place the cube perpendicular to the white wall and you can climb down.
Test Chamber 9
Just a little more! Use the laser and portals to destroy the turrets and open the door. To get there, drop the blue gel from the ceiling near the exit. Level complete!
Part 1
The final round of tests! First, we need to remove the cube by covering it with blue gel. Have your friend go to the room with the gel (via portals 1 and 2 ), while you place portals under the gel pipe ( 3 ) and in room 4. After the blue gel is poured in, climb up there and place a portal through the hole to point 5 .
Now, with your friend's help, go to the room with the gel and place one of the portals there. Stand on the button until the cube turns blue.
Meanwhile, your friend places portals at points 6 and 7. The blue gel will allow him to jump over the confiscation field and move the portal from point 7 to the rotating wall at point 8 (controlled by the plate). The cube is now ours! Climb the ledge and pass through the confiscation field with the cube, removing it with the plate.
Part 2
To open the door, we need to clear the cube so it doesn't bounce off surfaces. Don't think you can do this by simply destroying it—new cubes will be just as repulsive. To reach the water pump, the cube's carrier must place portals where the red and yellow ones are in the screenshot.
Next, use the cube to block the laser, thus lowering the elevator. The player without the cube climbs onto the elevator, rises, and jumps to the water pump. It starts the water flowing downward, and the cube carrier brings it to the water to clean it.
There's not much left to do—use the cube to climb back onto the elevator. Now you can leave it on the ground without worrying about it bouncing around. Once on the elevator, move the cube to the button ( red and orange portals) and fly to the other side, to the exit ( purple and blue ).
Part 3
The final test! Simply place the portals as shown in the screenshot and jump. The ending awaits...
