Canyon City

Fallout Tactics: BoS → Canyon City

The war with the robots is becoming protracted, punctuated by small sabotage missions. It's in one of these forays that you'll be participating in this mission. A robot repair facility has been discovered, where "terminators" crippled in battle are being repaired. It's necessary to cut off the power to the facility. This should inflict some damage on the enemy and hold back their advance.

It turns out that behind all this iron flow stands a figure called the Calculator. What this is remains unclear, and it would be good to extract at least some information about this mysterious "calculator."

Before leaving, check the merchant for yellow automatic shotgun shells. They're perfect for close-quarters confrontations with the "tin lumberjacks." In total, you'll need to destroy six power generators located throughout the map.

The trick is that you have to knock them out almost simultaneously. A couple of minutes after the generator's destruction, some manipulators will emerge from under the generator's frame and begin repairing it. Therefore, to completely destroy all the energy segments, you'll have to station a soldier near each one and take out all six targets simultaneously. So, save the destruction of the energy system for the finale, when you won't be pestered by hordes of pesky robots.

The first order of business is a complete clearing of the entire mechanical sector. This mission will feature the full complement of robotic vehicles you've already encountered, plus one more monster. But more on that later. The first generator is located near the starting point, and the approaches are covered by humanoid robots, one of which is armed with a Gauss pistol. Spiders are hiding near the generator. Next, I'd recommend climbing a high tower just to the north, from where you can fire at any hidden enemies.

You can reach the second generator through this tower or through the junkyard (the junkyard is full of spiders). Then there will be a couple of trenches with robots, and before entering the building with the second generator, don't hesitate to pull the switch on the southern wall to disable the two turrets. Shoot the lurking spiders.

Now move on to clearing the area near the third and fourth generators. Along with humanoid robots, security bots are scurrying around there. Next, you'll need to crawl through a beautiful fence, behind which lies a veritable palace. You can get inside not only by pressing the doorbell at the main entrance, but also by going through the underground galleries. One hatch is on the landing northwest of the first generator (it's blocked by structures, so you'll have to get right up close to see where you're going).

The exit, of course, is fraught with some danger. The second gallery runs from west to east; look for several stairs down in the area of the third and fourth generators. There's a forklift in the gallery. And if you decide to kick down the central door with a hobnailed boot, be prepared to fight a huge mechanical monster parked around the corner.

He has the hitpoints of a good tank, and it'll take a long time to wear him down. It worked well for me that I assigned two of my soldiers, who were taking out the reptile with energy weapons, to target its eyes. After that, the squad flew through the building in the open. Stimpaks, of course, took a toll, but everything was fun and very fast. One robot was robbed of a new gun – a Gatling laser, but it didn't seem very powerful, so I had to haul it away to sell.

Three computer terminals on the second floor are ready to share the information you need, and a brood of spiders is waiting for you again at the sixth generator. When the mechanical creatures are transformed into scrap metal with your help, position your soldiers near the generators and destroy them almost simultaneously. A small crater should form in their place, and you'll receive a message that all the generators have been blown up. You can also head home. Next, Buena Vista.
