Fallout Tactics: BoS → Brahmin Woods
General Barnaky's first mission: a gang of thugs has descended on a small but fairly prosperous settlement near our bunker. They've wreaked havoc and caused mayhem. The village Elder quickly realized that independence in these turbulent times is an extremely ephemeral concept and that the "protector" needs to be replaced immediately. Naturally, there's no better protection than the nearby Brotherhood of Steel camp, so the general is asked to resolve the situation.
Since the big shots in energy armor are currently busy, your team of rookies is sent to confront the Brotherhood. Besides your hero, who's been given an MP5 light assault rifle and an axe handle from the warehouse, you have two other mugs in your squad: Farsight, your potential sniper, and Stich, a combat medic.
Near your spawn point on the map, in some homeless shelter, the village elder is hanging out. You can talk to him if you want.
He's finally ready to fly the Brotherhood flag over his residence as soon as the raider gang leader is "evicted." Well, let's begin the counter-terrorist operation to enforce peace.
Cross the bridge and start taking out the vicious bandits and their dogs. The entire village is surrounded by a fairly long palisade, and your team should move clockwise. Behind the sandbags just to the north is a locked door; you can "borrow" the key from the guy in the tent nearby. Use an ambush to kill him quickly and easily.
Then you'll need to pass through a room where a terrified raider is scurrying around. Be careful, as some sly fellow is lying in wait behind the edge of the room, waiting for your troops. To neutralize the camper, carefully position your machine gunner or Stitch with a shotgun next to him. As your sniper pumps bullets into the dog that galloped in from the north, the sly raider (a big animal lover, I suppose) won't be able to accept the dog's death and will rise...
A little further on, a hilarious sight awaits you: in a small enclosure, a female raider and two dogs are snoring peacefully. Just not hugging each other. Activate defensive mode and approach cautiously.
Then turn on the "aggression" and make sure that snoring doesn't happen again. After passing through the pen with the gates, enter the large barn where the captured "collective farmers" are being held under the watchful eye of a couple of bandits. It's probably best to enter from the north to avoid injuring any of the residents and to prevent the bandits from reaching your men.
In the next tent, be careful, as a raider lurking in the corner is keeping an eye on the entrance. You can spot him from behind the rocks slightly to the left. As you continue counterclockwise, don't be lazy and climb up the vertical ladder to a small sniper perch in the ruins. It offers a truly magnificent view, including of any lurking enemies.
Carefully lead the men further through the ruins, as there may be a couple of ambushes there, and bring them out to the open lawn in front of the large barn where the leader and his guards are sitting.
You'll have to fight all these brethren at close range, because there's a partition in the interior. Slowly bring people to the edges and, taking a deep breath, start yelling, "Everyone down!!!", accompanied by gunfire from a variety of weapons. The leader will mutter something about "who dared" and such. Beat the living daylights out of him (he's in red armor) and his henchmen and gain a level. Another thug is sitting behind the house, don't forget to knock him out too.
Collect some trophies (the chest in the barn can be opened by Farsight if you give her a set of lockpicks) and head back to where you ended up. You can drive up to the elder. He's simply happy and, choking with delight, will say all sorts of nice things. It all boils down to the banal: "Brotherhood rules!" Who would have doubted it. To the northwest of the elder, beyond the canyon, there sits a local shaman.
He's willing to give you a pouch of medicinal roots. I don't recommend using this potion, because it's so powerful. Now, lead your team to the green rectangle and switch to strategic mode.
The path to the Brotherhood bunker isn't long, and no one will likely get in your way. To figure out where everything is in the bunker, open the map in your PIP-Boy. The Brotherhood of Steel is an amazing organization. Well, judge for yourself: you fight enemies, take risks, following your superiors' orders. Then you return to your base, where no one will even think of healing your men or giving you even a single zinc or ammo. No bonuses or material incentives. Everything is at your expense, and they'll fleece you dry.
The only exception to this self-supporting heroism is the free recruitment of new team members (and the faces there...). Basically, dump all your unnecessary junk from one of the "brothers" (let the one with the highest barter rate handle this process) and report to the general. Then head to Freeport.
