Shotguns

Fallout: New Vegas Walkthrough -> Shotguns

Lever-Action Shotgun - The only lever-action shotgun. This 20-gauge shotgun doesn't require much skill to operate—a Strength of 4 is sufficient. It's noted that this weapon is much more effective in VATS due to its faster fire rate. This shotgun is fortunate to benefit from both the "Two Barrels" and "Cowboy" perks.

Requirements: Weapon: 50, Strength: 4. ID: 0008ed0c

A single-shot shotgun, the .20 caliber shotgun not only reloads extremely quickly, but also offers surprisingly high damage and accuracy for a weapon available so early in the game.

Requirements: Weapon: 0, Strength: 5. ID: 000e393b

The Caravanner's Shotgun is built like a typical over-and-under, with the barrel clamp also serving as a front sight. The strength requirement is only 3.

Requirements: Weapon: 25, Strength: 1. ID: 000cd53a

The Hunting Shotgun is a deadly shotgun that holds up to 5 12-gauge shells. Up to 8 shells can be added with a modification. Its range is outstanding for a shotgun. Given the wide variety of available shells and its respectable damage, this shotgun can be a versatile tool for exploring the Mojave (especially in Hardcore mode, where players are unlikely to be able to carry a backpack full of guns).

Requirements: Weapon: 75, Strength: 5. ID:  0008ed0b

The Police Shotgun is a semi-automatic shotgun with a drum magazine. It looks intimidating and has a similar effect on enemies. Combined with the "Two Barrels" perk, this weapon is deadly in close combat. It also excels in combat against multiple opponents.

Requirements: Weapon: 100, Strength: 7. ID: 0008ed0a

The "Dinner Bell" is the same model as the hunting shotgun. It differs only in the higher-quality metal used for the barrel and bolt cover, as well as the pre-installed choke.

Requirements: Weapon: 75, Strength: 5. ID: 000f0b12

The Big Boom - Similar to the double-barreled shotgun from the Fallout 3: Point Lookout add-on. A single pull of the trigger fires both barrels, resulting in increased damage and faster ammo depletion. The shotgun's name is engraved (or rather, burned) directly into the barrel.

Requirements: Weapon: 50, Strength: 4. ID: 001673cd

Sawed-Off Shotgun - Similar in performance to its Fallout 3 counterpart, the only difference is the firing mode: a single press of the trigger fires both barrels simultaneously. This means the sawed-off shotgun fires 14 pellets at a target each time, and while its damage per second is low, it can deal massive damage with a single shot in close combat or from a concealed position. This model is crafted from stainless steel.

Requirements: Weapon: 50, Strength: 4. ID: 0000434c
