Fallout: New Vegas Walkthrough -> Features

Traits, or additional features in Fallout: New Vegas, add subtle details to a character's personality. Each has both advantages and disadvantages. If you want to take advantage of the former, you have to accept the latter! A character can have up to two traits, or none at all.

Please note: Once the game has started, you cannot change or purchase traits.


Wild Wasteland - Some unique random encounters are replaced with other encounters that are either trivial or contain Easter eggs.

Kind Soul - With a kind soul, you prefer to resolve issues peacefully. You gain +5 to Barter, Medicine, Repair, Science, and Speech, but -5 to Energy Weapons, Explosives, Weapons, Melee Weapons, and Unarmed.

Kamikaze - You gain +10 action points, but your carelessness reduces your damage threshold by 2.

Requirements: None. ID: 00135F05.


Unpredictable - From grenades to spears, you throw everything 30% faster, but your throwing range is reduced by 25%. 

Requirements: None. ID: 00164ED1.


Designed to Destroy - If a fire burns twice as bright, it will burn out twice as fast. All weapons gain a 3% critical hit chance, but equipment wears out 15% faster. 

Requirements: None. ID: 00137B02.


Snap Shot - Using normal and energy weapons, you shoot 20% faster, but are 20% less accurate. 

Requirements: None. ID: 00135EC7.


Trigger Technique - Using normal and energy weapons, you fire 20% slower but with 20% accuracy.

Requirements: None. ID: 00135EC8.


Heavy Hand - Your melee and unarmed attacks deal more damage, but less critical damage.

Requirements: None. ID: 00135EC5.


Four Eyes - Wearing any type of glasses gives you a +1 bonus to perception, while removing glasses gives you a -1 penalty.

Requirements: Perception less than 10. ID: 00135EC4.


Nimble - Your slight build allows you to gain +1 Dexterity, but you easily injure your limbs.

Requirements: Dexterity less than 10. ID: 00135EC6.
