Terraria Wiki → Pumpkin Moon (boss)
The Pumpkin Moon is an event added in update 1.2.1 to celebrate Halloween. The event is triggered by using a Pumpkin Moon Medallion (a consumable item). During this event, players are attacked by numerous monsters and bosses, which come in waves (listed below). To advance to the next wave, players must earn a certain number of points (details below explain how to obtain them).
The event lasts all night and ends at dawn.
This event is available year-round, not just on Halloween. To craft a Pumpkin Moon Medallion, you don't need to change the date on your device; you can buy pumpkin seeds from a Dryad, grow a pumpkin, and successfully craft the medallion, then activate the event at night.
Before version 1.3, this was the second most difficult event after the Ice Moon.
Waves:
Wave notifications are displayed at the bottom of the screen:
Wave 1: Scarecrow.
Wave 2: Scarecrow and Splinterling.
Wave 3: Scarecrow, Splinterling and Hellhound.
Wave 4: Scarecrow, Splinterling, Hellhound, and Mourning Tree.
Wave 5: Scarecrow, Splinterling, Hellhound, Poltergeist, and Mourning Tree.
Wave 6: Scarecrow, Splinterling, Hellhound, Poltergeist, and Mourning Tree.
Wave 7: Scarecrow, Hellhound, Poltergeist and the Pumpkin King.
Wave 8: Splinterling, Hellhound, Poltergeist, and the Pumpkin King.
Wave 9: Scarecrow, Headless Horseman, Mourning Tree, and Pumpkin King.
Wave 10: Splinterling, Hellhound, Poltergeist, Headless Horseman, Mourning Tree, and the Pumpkin King.
Wave 11: Scarecrow, Splinterling, Hellhound, Poltergeist, Headless Horseman, Mourning Tree, and the Pumpkin King.
Wave 12: Splinterling, Hellhound, Poltergeist, Headless Horseman, Mourning Tree, and Pumpkin King.
Wave 13: Hellhound, Poltergeist, Headless Horseman, Mourning Tree and Pumpkin King.
Wave 14: Headless Horseman, Mourning Tree, and Pumpkin King.
Final Wave: Mourning Tree and Pumpkin King (until end of night).
The number of points required to advance to a specific wave:
- Wave 1: Starts when the medallion is used.
- Wave 2: 25.
- Wave 3: 40.
- Wave 4: 50.
- Wave 5: 80.
- Wave 6: 100.
- Wave 7: 160.
- Wave 8: 180.
- Wave 9: 200.
- Wave 10: 250.
- Wave 11: 300.
- Wave 12: 375.
- Wave 13: 450.
- Wave 14: 525.
- Wave 15: 625.
Enemies
The points awarded for killing each monster are listed on the right:
- Scarecrow - 1.
- Splinterling - 2.
- Hellhound - 4.
- Poltergeist - 8.
- Headless Horseman - 25.
- Mourning Wood - 75.
- Pumpking - 150.
Achievements
If you reach wave 15, you will receive the achievement:
