Eye of Cthulhu

Terraria Wiki → Eye of Cthulhu

The easiest boss in the game, and probably the first one everyone encounters when starting Terraria. It's characterized by primarily using melee attacks and releasing small eyeballs. The Eye of Cthulhu starts with 3000 hit points (3640 on hard). If its hit points drop to 1500, the monster enters a high-attack mode (increasing its flight speed toward the player and the damage it takes from the boss).

How to summon?

The easiest way is to kill a lot of eyeballs. Then, sooner or later, you'll receive an in-game message saying "Evil is watching you..." or "This night will be terrible...." The second option is to craft a "Suspicious-Looking Eye" at a demonic altar in the Distortion biome. Crafting requires 6 Lenses, which drop from the same miniature copies of the Eye of Cthulhu at night.

How to fight?

In principle, any ranged weapon (firearms, bows, boomerangs) is very good for defeating a monster that deals melee damage. Ideally, it's best to create a platform before the fight that you can move on and fire back without hitting blocks, as the boss can easily fly in and out of the ground. Therefore, summoning the Eye of Cthulhu deep in caves is highly inappropriate. Even if you manage to kill it with good armor and weapons, the cost will outweigh the benefit. Generally, pelting it with grenades is a good idea, as grenades don't explode blocks and deal decent damage (I've never personally used them, so...).

With gold armor and above, as well as finding speed swords, stars on chains, magic staves, or crafting a variety of combat potions, killing Cthulhu will no longer be an issue. Therefore, the longer you play, the easier it will be to kill. If you die during the boss fight, teleport a significant distance (from one end of the map to the other, for example), or wait until morning, the nightmare will end. Accordingly, the Eye of Cthulhu can only be summoned at night. If you've let the spirits of light, darkness, and rainbow into the world, a modified version of the Gemini monster will appear to terrorize you at night. :) However, the ability to summon the Eye of Cthulhu by crafting the "eye" will remain in the game.

What drops out?

Speaking of loot, the monster drops coins, warp seeds, unholy arrows, and likely your first "Demonite Ore," which, when combined with Shadowscales, is used to craft the Nightmare Pickaxe (capable of mining hellstone) and other items from demonite ingots . On hard difficulty, it may drop Crimtane Ore, a Cthulhu Shield (unique), and a Cthulhu Helmet (decorative). Anyway, we wish you luck in the fight against evil, and we invite you to share your methods for destroying the monster in the comments. See you there!
