The Dungeon Guardian is one of the dungeon's monsters. You can encounter it only by entering the dungeon without first killing Skeletron, or by failing to kill Skeletron before dawn. In earlier versions of the game, it was called Skeletron's Head. The Dungeon Guardian is needed to prevent the player from entering the dungeon without killing Skeletron. Skeletron himself was created to protect the dungeon from intruders until someone kills him. You can recognize his presence by the roar emitted by the bosses.
Upon death, he leaves no body parts behind; he simply disappears. The Guardian is not immortal and can be killed, but this is a very labor-intensive process that requires good skill and equipment. Starting with version 1.2, his death drops a Bone Key.
Due to his 9999 defense, all weapons without exception deal 1 damage to him, and any critical hits deal 2 damage.
The Dungeon Guardian protects the Dungeon from intruders. If a player attempts to enter the dungeon without killing Skeletron, this enemy will appear and attack. A blow from the Dungeon Guardian will kill any player instantly. Avoid the caves at a certain depth near the Dungeon until Skeletron is defeated.
Facts
- The Dungeon Guardian has the same appearance as the Skeletron Head.
- Originally, the Skeletron Head was used to protect the Dungeon. Destroying all Skeletron heads was considered equivalent to defeating Skeletron, leading to the creation of the Dungeon Guardian to circumvent this unintended behavior.
- It's possible to kill the Dungeon Guardian, even though it deals 1000 damage and has high defense. If you want to kill it, it's recommended to use a ranged weapon like the Mini Shark or Mega Shark, as well as a Gravity Potion. All your attacks deal only 1-2 damage to the Guardian.
- Killing the Dungeon Guardian will reward you with a Bone Key, which is required to summon the Skeletron Hatchling Head.
- There is a chance for up to five or more Guardians to spawn.
- For it to appear, the player must be at or below 6 feet below sea level, have a lot of dungeon bricks nearby, have a natural wall behind the character, and have Skeletron undefeated.
- His attack can be survived with the Beetle Armor (complete with Beetle Chestplate) and a Vitality Potion.
- The longer you stay in the dungeon, the more guardians will follow you.
- The Guardian is immune to all debuffs except Frost Burn.
- The Guardian is displayed on the minimap.
- The Guardian is stronger than any boss.
- Judging by the previous two facts, the keeper can be called a boss, but not a story boss.
How to defeat the Dungeon Guardian
1. Required items.
1. Machine gun. Can be obtained from Santank or Santa-NK1. It is advisable to reforge it for maximum crit.
2. Crystal bullets. As many as possible. Can be obtained in Consecration.
3. UFO (mount). Can be obtained from the Martian Invasion boss.
4. Armor and axes for maximum crit.
4.1 Vortex Armor
4.2 Sniper Scope
4.3 Golem's Eye
4.4 Skystone
4.5 Destroyer Emblem
4.6 Rotten Remains
4.7 Moonstone/Sunstone (depending on when you fight)
5. Potions. Well, this one is obvious, a Fury potion and any snack that "increases all stats."
2. Preparation.
We fly around the world, removing all living trees (so that they don’t stop and don’t interfere).
We go through the beginning of the dungeon, removing a lot of blocks to leave a huge crater. It is advisable to do all this with a Drill (mount). You can optionally place a teleporter (or, if you don't have a drill, a teleporter). Drink a potion, eat some food, and forward! (Or rather, down.)
3. Battle.
Change your mount to a UFO. As soon as we hear the "ROAR" (the boss's roar), IMMEDIATELY fly out of the dungeon. Try to keep a medium distance from the Guardian so that if you need to turn around, you have some room to maneuver, since he is just as fast, but more maneuverable than you. Then, throughout the battle, simply shoot at him with the machine gun you got from Santank. After a few minutes, the Guardian will die, and the pet is yours!
(Note: this does not open the passage to the dungeon.)
